I’m talking area’s like quarters, inside fender edges,,,etc
Currently I use the foam tape and it seems to do alright, any trained eye would spot it out in a heartbeat… I’ve seen that 3M smooth transition tape, it seems to be a bit of a pain to use. I’ve tried a few rolls and found it didn’t work as well as the claimed, or maybe I’m not using it right.. At any rate, whats everyone else doing?
November 30, 2008 at 8:46 pm #11979I outline everything with a piece of 3/4 tape that has the edge folded over and lay my 6” paper to that. There is a machine you can buy that folds the tape for you, we have one at work but I usually just do it by hand.
That is the website that sells the machine. If anyone is interested I could probably put together some pics or a video of how to do it by hand. There is also a few tricks to using the tape this way. It’s the same principal as the 3M transition tape but alot cheaper , easier to work with and produces an invisible edge.

November 30, 2008 at 10:20 pm #11984dont be afraid to mask in deep and use the lips usually found on the inside of jambs to tape off of. the closer the tape is to the edge the more likely your gonna see a line. i usually only use the foam tape on dogleg areas just cause its a little harder to get that soft edge with masking tape with all those contours. i dont count on the foam tape to seal anything i just use it for the soft edge.
