I have a hand made paint booth and I am attempting to improve my exhaust and filtering system. I have been told of a product called an “Exhaust Wall” which is a complete assembly that contains the fans, exhaust and filters in one product. Is anyone familiar with this product and where I can find one specifically for auto paint operations
December 10, 2009 at 5:39 am #17693i believe you are talking about an open faced booth. its just a wall of filters with a short 4′ or so wall on each side and top. there is a banner that pops up occasionaly on this forum with a picture of one. i attached a pic as well. December 10, 2009 at 8:03 am #17703That’s what I used to build the booth in my home shop.
Mines a 7’x7′ industrial exhaust wall with a 24″ tubeaxial fan w/ a 220v single phase 1 1/2hp motor.
I had http://www.jcmetalfab.com/ build mine.

December 10, 2009 at 10:08 pm #17724That kind of makes my 3 box fans and filters look a little bush league. Nice work.
December 10, 2009 at 10:15 pm #17726Christ! That’s really nice, and is better than some of the commercially made booths I’ve worked in!
Very envious…
December 11, 2009 at 4:41 am #17744Ive got to say man, Im jealous! Thats the exact same idea I have had in my head for sometime now. I just havent had the money to buy the wall. Thats an awesome set up!
December 12, 2009 at 11:25 am #17763Thanks for the kind words fellas, I’m happy with it.
Richard, I’ve got somewhere between 4-5K in it.
I went the route I did for a few different reasons. I didn’t want to loose any more floor space than I absolutely had to in my shop, I wanted a roll up entrance door that wouldn’t be in the way like swing out doors would, I wanted a booth tall enough to fit lifted trucks, I wanted to be able to use the roof of it for loft storage, and I wanted it to have a residential/multi purpose appearance.

As for being fire resistant, it’s constructed with 5/8″ firecode rated type X sheetrock. However, none of the what if’s in regards to a commercial application really matter as this is a “home setup”.
