I have a hand made paint booth and I am attempting to improve my exhaust and filtering system. I have been told of a product called an “Exhaust Wall” which is a complete assembly that contains the fans, exhaust and filters in one product. Is anyone familiar with this product and where I can find one specifically for auto paint operations

i believe you are talking about an open faced booth. its just a wall of filters with a short 4′ or so wall on each side and top. there is a banner that pops up occasionaly on this forum with a picture of one. i attached a pic as well. That’s what I used to build the booth in my home shop.

    Mines a 7’x7′ industrial exhaust wall with a 24″ tubeaxial fan w/ a 220v single phase 1 1/2hp motor.

    I had http://www.jcmetalfab.com/ build mine.

That kind of makes my 3 box fans and filters look a little bush league. Nice work.

Christ! That’s really nice, and is better than some of the commercially made booths I’ve worked in!

    Very envious…

Ive got to say man, Im jealous! Thats the exact same idea I have had in my head for sometime now. I just havent had the money to buy the wall. Thats an awesome set up!

    Yep, Very nice.
How much you think you got into your booth total?

I wonder rather it would pass in a professional shop.
I mean it’s sorta the same type of setup Bondo has. And Bondo’s Passes. But then again he lives up in the sticks.

yeah I am interested also. I have a nice shop at home and a perfect spot next to it that has a concrete pad poured already that this would fit perfectly. Hmmm

yea the exhaust wall idea is clever although that booth would never pass for commercial use since its not fire resistant.

good point… does it have to made of metal and have the sprinklers, or can you use frame and drywall with siding such as FRP like you see in restaurants?

    just thinking?

Thanks for the kind words fellas, I’m happy with it.

Richard, I’ve got somewhere between 4-5K in it.

I went the route I did for a few different reasons. I didn’t want to loose any more floor space than I absolutely had to in my shop, I wanted a roll up entrance door that wouldn’t be in the way like swing out doors would, I wanted a booth tall enough to fit lifted trucks, I wanted to be able to use the roof of it for loft storage, and I wanted it to have a residential/multi purpose appearance.

As for being fire resistant, it’s constructed with 5/8″ firecode rated type X sheetrock. However, none of the what if’s in regards to a commercial application really matter as this is a “home setup”.
