Hello all.. I am a self taught mechanic, and want to teach myself how to do paint and body, and eventually metalwork too.. But I am knowledgeable enough to know that I should find a group of pros I can rely on for good info.. Then I can be sure that sometime soon I can get good enough to where I can put my job up against the pros and no one would be able to tell the difference.. I dont intend to do this for a living, but I take pride in what I do.. if I pull up in a car and get a compliment on my paintjob and hear the comment, “who did the paint on this car?? Thats awesome..” I want to be able to have that smile cross my face when I turn to them and say, “I did that paintjob myself..” believe me, I am very aware that I will only get that after a good bit of blood, sweat, and tears.. but I am willing to do a professional quality job, whether I am doing it for myself or someone else.. I look forward to learning from all of you, and will contribute when and where I think I can.. thanks in advance..

:welc be prepared to invest in new tools and equipment and knowing how to do auto body or paint isnt the same as actually doing it. youll notice this trade has more to do with experience then just following instruction but throw your questions at us.

yeah i knew this was gonna mean buying lots of new tools and learning and practicing new procedures.. I would rather learn it from the pros who do it every day than go to a school where the guy hasnt been in the biz in a while and doesnt keep up on the latest techniques.. I will have plenty of questions as I go along though.. thanks for the welcome..

Hi and welcome , keep up the high spirit , take your time and just do it , that is the only way to get the experience , once you done a couple of cars it becomes natural and you can start to find the pitfalls and progress………there is no end in learning in this trade 😉
