Hey guys, love the forum so far. I figured this would be the best place to ask about my problem. I’m extremely terrible with clearcoat. I bought myself a small Honda Civic in order to practice body work and painting. I picked basecoat clear coat paint, by a company named ProForm off parts source. I have no issues with painting at all, but my problem is with the clearcoat. My first layer, and second layer are shiney. But when it came to the third, it just got hazyer and unever in shininess. I have no idea how to fix this, or why it even happned. No matter how much extra clear I added, it stayed the same. How should I fix this problem? I’m not sure if this is common or not to happen, and hope I could fix it. Someone please help 🙁
Oh, and if anyone has any quick painting tricks to make this paintjob look really good, please let me know. I also don’t have a very good idea on how a paint gun works, I know the basics with the needle, but nothing with the fan and whatnot, I’m not sure if this contributed to my problem, and I don’t see why it would but you never know. I’d be more then willing to pay for someone to guide me through this.
Hello,
I’m not a specialist i’m also a hobby painter that works in a body shop in the weekend.
Why do you add a third coat, maybe it is best to stop at the 2nd coat where it is still shiney.
I never had this issue, but do you leave enough time between coats?
Don’t know the brand of the clearcoat u use, how do you mix your clear? 2:1? is it high solid clear?
