microplane stainless sanding discs

Have any of you guys used the stainless steel sanding discs? evidently they last an eternity on wood, but I’m sure they are worthless when they hit steel. I would guess they would be great for dust free knock down of filler, before switching to a block or a traditional pad on an orbital.
any users with experience?
