Hi all!
We are almost finished with our body shop’s website. Was hoping I could get a few pointers from anyone who is familiar with web design and programming.
-How do we get higher on Search Results?
-How do we get more local hits?
-How can we come before other shops with a similar name / agenda?
-What sort of additional information (if any) should be added to the site? Thanks so much.
Here is our website.

You’d have to read up on SEO (search engine optimization) and adjust your site accordingly. The biggest factor is the amount of high profile websites (refinishnetwork now for instance) that are linking back to you (and from what page). You want to consider the terms that you want to rank for also, I mean you’ll likely take the spot for M & L Auto Center fairly easily however the spot you want is what new potential customers would search to find your site, so if your link was named “Collision Repair West Melbourne” then you’d rank up quicker on that term which is probably what you’d want. Basic things like facebook pages, twitter..etc building links back to your site are easy ways to rank up.
One great tool imo is youtube, you have a video I noticed but it is not named well. I did a shop tour video called “collision repair ajax – fix auto ajax central”, whenever a user enters collision repair ajax into google now, that video comes up and it’s the only one. You are also missing an opportunity to insert a link into your youtube video description which will again increase your rank and help drive traffic.
When your designing your site make sure your doing it from a customers perspective, keep it simple! Its easy to cover your website in what interests you, but its not always going to translate to the customer. You need to remove that search bar, your customers shouldn’t need to search your site. Also say for instance a customer wants to search dent repair, your search results page is going to display ads for your competition. I think the layout is alright but it wouldn’t be my first choice. Focus on a clean, professional and simplistic look.
And never undervalue the potential of social media, integrate that into your site (facebook most importantly) and update it with photo’s or something every week.
I could really go on for days but I gotta get back to work lol.

Tip: Use search engine friendly names for your pages , Google does not like : http://mlautocenter.com/?page_id=78 , but likes http://mlautocenter.com/collision-repair for example.
