    HI. Can u help me out here? thanks i would really appreciate it….need a second opinion and advice.

    Here is the link to my photobucket ……..http://s481.photobucket.com/albums/rr176/Chinito302/……where i have all the pics. but for some odd reason it doesnt seem to work….

    BUT JUST IN CASE IT DOESN’T WORK………JUST LOG INTO MY PHOTOBUCKET ACCOUNT…..here my info:::

    http://www.photobucket.com

    USERNAME:::: chinito302

    PASSWORD:::::floridaa

    Go all the way to the bottom of the page when you’re in my album n click VIEW ALL…there’s a lot of pics…

    There is a pic of the aftermarket bumper…..I WANT TO KNOW IF I CAN USE BODY FILLER OVER THE FRONT PART OF THAT BUMPER AND CAN I USE FILLER TO BUILD THE EDGES OF THE BUMPER SO THAT IT IS FLUSH WHERE IT MEETS THE FENDER….LIKE THE ORIGINAL ONE?….but being that it is a Taiwan piece they did a crappy job n they trim the molding to far back….The edges of the bumper where it meets the fender has been beveled in too far. so i would have to use some thing to build it back up…maybe filler?

    Since u guys do a lot of custom work i was wondering maybe you guys know what is best to do….The bumper cover is not fiberglass….i think its urethane…it feels like a rubber ducky type of plastic…..flexible and soft…it feels like u can bend it and nothing will happen….what kind of body filler finishing glaze can i use to skim coat the bumper to block it out smooth???

    Another thing about the bumper….it came already primer with that grey….should i sand it off and start with raw plastic being that that primer might be cheap stuff?

    Since the bumper is a urethane plastic bumper….Do i have to, HAVE TOOOO to use a flex additive mix into the primer and clear coat when painting the bumpers…..Im using Dupont Nason 2K urethane high build primer and nason 2k HS urethane clear…..bb/cc……….i am also gonna spray a ADHESIVE PROMOTER from BULLDOG ffrom the aresol can…..not sure if that is enough for the bumper…..i am also having a hard time finding this Flex additve for the primer n clear for this line of product from dupont….NASON is a lower end brand…since i a newbie….I heard i have to use a flex additive cuz the 2k primer dries hard…..but then i also heard that these new material does not really need them cuz they are already flexible…..HELP HELP HELP!

    Also there is a pic of the fender….it has surface rust which i cleaned up with rust remover how i washed it down with water to remove the rust remover sticky residue…and dried it immediately. however, it started turning brown again n surface rust started to show…

    HOW WOULD YOU CLEAN THIS FENDER UP TO GET IT READY FOR FILLER AND PRIMER….WHERE DOES THIS VINEGAR WASH COME INTO PLAY?

    THere is also a pic of the already PRIMERED n BLOCKED DOWN FENDER….If i’m gonna be painting the car with a CUSTOM PEARL BLACK like the ones on the new challengers……and there is a few sand through into the below layers of paint…..CAN I PAINT THE BASECOAT DIRECTLY OVER THAT FENDER AS IT IS RIGHT NOW WITHOUT HAVING TO SPOT PRIMER THOSE DARK AREA TO ACHIEVE A UNIFORM COLOR BEING THAT THE COLOR IS BLACK??? but since the black is not a solid black, im not sure….kinda of the same problem with painting with say SILVER…

    thanks!

    Hi & Welcome,

    I was having trouble getting your picture to load and couldn’t log into photobucket with that login. For future reference I’d suggest breaking this up into seperate posts to get more replies, many people shy away from posts this long.

    If you need to do serious filling on a urethane bumper you would want to use an epoxy based adhesive, for minor filling you should use a flexible polyester putty. For prep make sure you clean your plastic with a plastic cleaner and scuff it with a scotch pad and sanding paste. After that your adhesion promoter (plastic primer) from bulldog would be a good choice, an aerosol should be enough for the bumper. I don’t know much about nason products but bulldog has one that they claim can be used in any product. If you don’t use it I wouldn’t loose sleep, your right that urethane products are plenty flexible already.

    As for the primer use a paint thinner on a rag and wipe it, if the primer comes off then wash it all off and start with the plastic. If it doesn’t then just sand and paint (skip the plastic prep and primer). Being a cheap aftermarket the odds are it will wash off.

    For rust repair the proper way to do it is remove the rust by grinding/sandblasting and if necessary weld in metal, in theres no holes then just rebuild with polyester fillers. I would try and skip the metal/rust treatments all together.

    The sandthroughs you can sometimes base directly over but sometimes they do lift/wrinkle. I would put a light coat of primer or sealer over them before base coat. Being black it should cover quick and wouldn’t worry much about the color of your undercoat.

    If you can find a way to get some pics up I’ll try and help you a bit better. You can email them to me @ justin_jimmo@hotmail.com and I can post them here for you.
