    How you doing fellas,

Just a quick question, can I swap the air cap and nozzle in an rp for a hvlp set to convert the gun?

    Cheers

No, the air passages internally are different. It would be nice wouldn’t it!

no, done it, takes the gun out specs. i did it, didn’t work to good. you’ll end up spraying at an higher psi. plus it’s like 300 bucks for a new needle, nozle, and cap, a few more and you have a whole new gun.

Ok, thanks for answering. Can I just ask another question without starting a new topic, is the 4000 rp really a better gun than the 3000 with regard to atomization? Would you say its better with thicker clears?

    Cheers

Jayson has the experience with the new rp, he says its far better then the 3000, i have used the the hvlp, & liked far better then the 3000.

I did end up spending the coin for a new 1.4 tip kit for the rp, & been much more happier clearing with it then i was with the 1.3.

At first I really liked it,and it does lay down a nice smooth coat of clear.I do find it a little on the slow side even with a 1.4,but still use it.My gun of choice is still the first gen RP with a 1.4,the 3000 is a nice gun too, just not my fav 😛

I’ve been using the 4000 RP for about a year. I have a 1.4 tip in it and like it. It is a little slow, but the speed suits me just fine. For me, the 3000 is like a garden hose.

Ayup fellas, thanks for your replies. I know what you mean about the 3000, you can soon wet a panel with it. Does the 4000 rp spray thicker clears as well or if not better than the 3000?

    Cheers

Yes, the 4000 does spray thicker clears & HS clear well

With the EPA’s 6H rule all spray guns are more likely to spray like HVLP guns. They will slow you down.

Sata RP’s do not spray like HVLP,not even close, they spray just as fast as my sata jet 90 😛

The Sata RP3000 does not spray like the Jet90. My post was the effeciency of spray guns has changed. The Jet90 is not an RP (reduced pressure).

IMO it does in regards to speed and how much material it puts out, you just have to be closer with the 3000.I sprayed with a jet90 for ten years( it was satas first gun to deliver 65% transfer efficency at 50psi) and have owned and used all the rp’s…

I’ve got a 3000rp with a 1.3 and have never sprayed a high solids clear with it. Has anyone sprayed the RM DC5335, Spies 8035 or Dupont 72500S with this setup?

Sprayed dc5335 with a rp3000 and a 1.2 little slow. the 1.3 will be fine
