Depends on what products you are spraying(check your TDS sheets)but yes for clear you can use anything from a 1.2,1.3,1.4 in an rp3000 and it will work great for you. 😉
April 23, 2011 at 1:05 am #30459It really depends. On the clear your spraying. The 1.3 would be more universal for clear but some clears work better with a 1.2 or a 1.4.
April 23, 2011 at 1:07 am #30460
i bought a sata 3000 hvlp with a 1.4 tip just for base, and i want a gun just for clear, is the sata 3000 RP with a 1.3 tip a good clear gun or would a 1.2 be better
well those of us who have the sata 3000 hvlp and rp, have the 1.3 tip for base seems to atomize it just right, and a 1.4 is prefered for the rp, as we feel like the 1.3 over atomize’s the clear. i use the 1.3 rp for clear and wish i had the 1.4.
1.2 wouldn’t be a good ideal.
i tried the hvlp last night, but i had to put the air upto 40 psi at the gun in order to adamize the spray.i even tried it with clear and it worke pretty good but not what i would of liked. i know for the RP model it is 29 psi what is the hvlp suppose to be at..
thanks. i mostly spray limco,BASF, and PPG paints.April 27, 2011 at 7:30 pm #3054429 psi also.
The hvlp will work for clear but making sure your getting the proper air volume to the gun is a concern. Things like high flow couplers, pipe size, hose length and diameter and also the number of fittings all come in to play.
i fig it out.. i gave the gun a good cleaning and let it set for a few days in thinner…then shot more clear through it,and what a diff, at 29psi it laid it down with no orange peel at all.no buffing needed at all..my devilbiss was no where close to half the gun this is..my iwata dont lay clear down as nice as this does…this is my first sata gun and prob wont go back to another type..
