I read in the article above that Ontario is due to be hit with a series of inspections on Body and paint shops. Clean up your shops guys and fix anything that is broken. Painters store all of your paint properly and clean up as well.

I hate inspections at work we have like 10 different organizations that can pop in any time they like and pop any of us with BIG fines.
My employer has been fixing it more and more were they fine the employee’s now instead of the employer too!

The agencies like it too because the Employee cant afford to fight the fines like the employer can in court for years at a time.

You can register to collisionweek free to view the article, figured that out after. (although I am going to become a paid subscriber)

I was actually at a meeting today in Milton and a shop owner from Scarborough was hit. They didn’t fine him but gave a hard time for the painter using charcoal mask (among other things) but that was there big concern, even though a fresh air mask was provided. They are also sending his painter out for health tests periodically now.

So are they fining Shop owners or are they going after workers too?

At my work place they would have actually gone after the employee as he had been trained on the proper equipment and its use.

    I think both.

The SAS masks I’ve been getting lately actually list that they are safe for use with iso’s,, as long as they’re used following a change out schedule. I thought that was interesting, first charcoal mask I’ve seen that state that. I haven’t used my fresh air system since I moved into my new shop.

Yeah, I also just purchased a dozen MSA GME Filters for my Comfo Fit Half Masks.

I’ve also ordered an attachment to Convert my half mask to run off my Supplied Air Pump.

I can’t stand the glare through my full face masks any more…
I find my work is cleaner when I don’t wear it…

I guess you just have to try to be more careful to not look at the end of the fluid needle while shooting like Ding does. :S

I’d love to try one of those 3M PAPR or whatever they call ’em, like that hood design, but it’s a ton of money. Spraying with a half mask plays hell on my eyes, but I can barely stand the half mask and hood with the pump. SAS iso rated respirators are only like $12 so swapping to a fresh one every eight hours isn’t a big deal.

Ding has one of those Pure Air systems that runs right off his Air Compressor (Y harness right before his gun). SAS as I recall.
He said he hasn’t been using it, Not too sure on the reasoning.

I just can’t seem to get a good enough view.
I either Fog up Goggles, or have killer Glare from the florescent lights…

I think all they need to do is stop bowing the lenses on the Full face masks…
It’s that damn Bow in the lens that glares everything.

In my Ultravue it gets so bad and distracting you can barely see the car at all. And what you can see in some area’s isn’t enough to judge orange peel and film build.

I have asked damn near every painter that I’ve met when this conversation comes up what he prefers.
And even with the 3M Face Shields they’re bitching about glare.

Like I said. they just need to do like welding helmets and make flat lenses… Sure it becomes more restrictive of peripheral vision. But I’d rather see directly in front of me perfectly than I would to see a whole lotta’ glare everywhere.

I think it’s rediculous to think that something can be painted while wearing a rediculous get up like we already wear let alone wrapping an old octupus around my head and spraying blind ….. come on people wake up , this our industry not theirs…. we got a fresh air system :pcorn: 20 years old never bin used …. FOR SALE (free) come and get it :pcorn: a joke , thats what it is a joke. Kinda like no smoking in bars …. f***k*** bleeding hearts …. go get a job. 👿

protecting yourself from iso’s. is no joking matter..no smoking in bars is an infringement of our freedoms ..fresh air systems in the booth just makes sense . also wearing dispossible gloves . you need the protection from these chemicals . there deadly over an extended period of time . the effects are not immediate . their long range killers ..but its your choice a little protection now . or spend the rest of your days with a permanent air tank being wheeled at your side ..everyone thinks that it wont happen to them but this silent killer is real .before using air to breath with out of your air compressor have the air samples taken their is some gross stuff in that tank ( been there done that ).if you wont do it for your self.. take a long look at your family tonight .and imagine them without you there…have fun be SAFE
