October 20, 2012 at 10:03 pm #38722
Where I live the humidity is bad year round it stay around 30 percent and up very rarely gets under 20 percent And I usually have to bake the base for at least 10 minutes at 170 and sometimes it still isn’t dry
Be extremely cautious doing a short bake on your base  It will be comparable to clearing well after your recoat window and lose adhesion.Nothing wrong with ramping up your temp to 85 or so after your blend/drop coat for 10 mins. What would happen if you put one coat on and let it flash before you did your second?I know your not supposed to do it that with with dupont but water dries from the bottom up,so if the bottom is still wet how will it ever dry?TO me it seems dupont breaks the rule of too much too soon with their base.Just my 2 cents
October 21, 2012 at 2:53 am #38723any ideas on what i can put on the paint booth floor to keep the dust down when i bring the blowers in to dry the base ive been just wettting the floor but im sure there some thing else that might work better cuz wetting the floor seems to raise the humidity lil bit that big fan they left is portable it has a tube out the back where it exahust out the back i tied it up where its pointing st8 up that helps with the dust somewhat its not horrable but i was use to not buffing at all with the sikkens the booth i use is a accudraft it works really good excellent air flow
Yea I’ve had a couple of job cap off and looked dry felt dry but when I cleared it lifted and looked like the while job reacted and had to redo the whole job and all dupont said was need to put heat on it and blow it longer and I can’t stand the way they want u to spray it I like the way Sikkens and envirobase spray just my opion
October 25, 2012 at 2:13 am #38775i havnt had any trouble with the stando blue yet but theres no way its faster than the sikkens autobase plus i dont care what they say or what theboss says thenumbers arethere no way it faster not even close i was doin 5 to 7 booth cycles a day with the sikkens i cant do 5 with stando blue most of the time im doin 3 i know it newto me and i sprayed sikkens for 13 years but its not as fast period
Yea I went from 4 to 5 a day to 2 to 3 a day so yea I agree not faster and I don’t know if u make money on materials but ur materials bill will go up a good bit I went from 5000 to 6000 a month to 7000 to 9000 with Cromax pro I had it where I was spending 5 to 6000 and still making good profit with autobase plus Ive only made a little money off the Cromax I’ll be lucky to break even this year with Cromax
October 25, 2012 at 2:08 pm #38785no money on material i know it cost morethan the autobase plus and the clear is higher than the hs plushad to switch to another pps system for water borne its cost more got a new gun cleaning system it cost more got 3 different produxcts for primer sealers instead of just color build for primer and sealers
Sounds like ur bill will triple I thinks that’s one 1 of the biggest issues I have with my jobber is they siad it was cheaper and I will make more money at the end of the month and all it’s done for me is cause headaches and an ass chewing at the end of the month from my boss
