I can’t seem to get the training videos on the training page to run – says they needs flash enabled browser and high speed internet. I checked – flash video downloader and Active X Control are both enabled. I have road runer high speed internet. Any suggestions on how to get it to run?
AnonymousJanuary 15, 2009 at 4:32 pm #12270You may need to download shockwave, http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/. If that doesn’t work I’d maybe try another browser, I use mozilla firefox. I’ve had them all running on mozilla & internet explorer. (the ppg ones don’t load properly on firefox though). Also if your using Internet explorer, see if a yellow bar at the top of the page pops up asking for permission. You may need to tell it to allow the video to run.
Let me know how you make out.
January 16, 2009 at 3:45 am #12273I had shockwave already enabled in Internet Explorer. I found I was able to download the file and I could view the course except none of the video inside the program worked. I down loaded Firefox – was able to download the file and view it here as well but no embedded video. In both browsers, I had the pop up blocker turned off (yellow bar). Even with it on, it wasn’t poping up anyway.
AnonymousJanuary 16, 2009 at 4:32 am #12275Downloading it definitely wont work because the shockwave file calls the video externally, you’ll need to view it in your browser off of the site. Maybe check the security settings in your options & temporarily lower them and see if it will run. Their may be some other options for running activex applications you could have to change those settings individually. I’ll see if I can find out some more information on why a shockwave file won’t load.
AnonymousJanuary 16, 2009 at 4:41 am #12276Here’s a troubleshooting page from adobe: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb403264&sliceId=1#no_content. it shows what security settings to change and how to for internet explorer. I’d check to see if their set up properly.
To change security level in Internet Explorer:
1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. Choose Tools > Internet Options.
3. Click the Security tab.
4. Click Custom Level.
5. Find the section “ActiveX controls and plug-ins”.
6. Set Download Signed ActiveX Controls to Prompt.
7. Set Run ActiveX Controls And Plug-ins to Prompt.Again, keep me posted!
January 17, 2009 at 2:59 am #12281All security settings set as instructed but still no success. A new window opens but it is blank – I can’t see the slide show or the video in Internt Explorer. I can only see the slide show in FireFox. I also tried setting to low security level – didn’t make any difference.
January 18, 2009 at 12:29 am #12295I reformatted the hard drive and re-installed windows on an older desktop computer and now I can view the slide show and the videos. I’ll have to compare settings to see what’s different – maybe its the antivirus software on my laptop. Thanks for your help.
