Awesome 😆 All I did was blow 1/4 pot of thinners through it to rinse it out, then banged some clear on a black car.

Came out pretty well too. A little bit heavy and peely, but considering it was never made to atomise ultra high solid clears I was pleasantly surprised. It’s certainly nothing that wouldn’t cut & buff out, and I reckon with a bit of tuning or maybe a more suitable product it’d be fine. Certainly good enough for my buddy that does the occasional home spray job.

It’s also come up looking pretty good too. I’ll get a picture up when I’ve put it all back together.

Yes, my old boss had one for nearly 15 years and only ever put one needle & nozzle kit in it!

He never let it get in that state though 😆 For giggles I’m just going to rinse it through and see how it sprays before stripping it.
If there’s one correct way to spray and one best gun to use, how come the community has not figured this out? I don’t understand why there should ever be any kind of confusion.

As said, there are so many variables that there could never be one tool and one technique that fits every operator or situation, that’s why there’s no definitive answer.

To try another analogy – put me behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car and I bet I’d be nowhere near as fast as the best. The equipment is no different, and it’s just a case of turning the steering and pressing the pedals, but I’ll never be Ayrton Senna!!!

My advice would be to take whatever gun you have, then practice practice practice, adjust adjust adjust, then practice some more until you get the results you want. As a conservative estimate I’d say that over the last 4 years I’ve painted around 10,000 jobs, more than 20,000 panels, and I still don’t get it right every time!

The last I heard they were using the Iwata W400WBX gun too :dnc although they may have swapped to the supernova by now.

Mine never seem to last either!

I wear steelies, but prefer a training shoe type rather than a boot as they give me more flexibility when constantly kneeling down/standing up. I can also slip my paint suit on over the top without having to remove them and subject everyone to my stinky feet  :rofl

Stainless steel internals basically. Simple as that.

I’ve dealt with that company a few times and can recommend them, although I’ve never used that particular gun.

As for second hand – there’s only ebay really and I’ve dropped lucky a few times on there. The used W400 I got cheap is still going strong. I put a WBX set up in it but apart from that it hasn’t even had a service in all the time I’ve had it. It gets so much use that I’ve worn the chrome plate off it in places!!

Same with my WS400. That was BNIB for £150 (I think) and is still working perfectly despite having hundreds of gallons of clearcoat through it.

Just to add some more info Jimmo (and definitely not trying to rush you 🙂 ):

I’ve noticed the forum remembers me fine on my andriod phone. Could it be a case of it’ll only remember me on one device? That’s not something I’ve come across before though.

Yes, a picture would definitely help.

Butting the two panels together and filling at the same time ought to work. Cut down the gap between them with a sharp blade once the filler has started to gel and reached the rubbery stage. You should then be able to let it harden fully and pull the two pieces apart.

I see ya broke out the 5m wrap that’s almost twice as good as 3m right? :lol1
You guys aren’t on the metric system. I use the 4M version of that sheeting, but the 5M is just over a yard wider 😉

I’ve also got to agree. Yes you may get away with another hardener in it, but why take the risk?

And I have learnt the hard way. Many years ago I ran out of the correct hardener so used the first thing I could get my hands on for a front end rush job . All was well until a few months later when the clear started to yellow. I’d never had that problem before so I could only put it down to the random hardener I’d used.

For some reason the guy wasn’t too happy having a silver car with a gold front end :rofl

    Thanks for that.

This is the cabinet I’m using:

As you can see there’s not enough room for 13 more and I doubt it could be expanded. I could always put some on top like I have with my extra stock, but then I wouldn’t have the benefit of the heated shelves.

I’m sure the guys will sort something out when they upgrade me :cheer:

Yep, it’s a hard life out on the road 😆

We did have canopies that extended outwards from the sides of our vans, but the wind would just blow the rain under them anyway so they were less than useless.
