then he has the HS version ,the older 7 is black bodied ,ide say the aircap he has fitted is the 726
no not had any real issues with Walcom seals other than one i purchased used had a worn air micrometer seal ,as i had spares which Walcom throw in with new guns i used those to repair the used one ,however Sata air micrometers are identical and so Sata seals fit Walcom and vise verse ,also Asturo guns use the same seals pots and most set ups ect,,
personaly i dont like stripping my guns down i just flush so i tend not to wear out seals
also on a good note set ups are at least half the price of Sata and other spares ,plus as ii said when you buuy a walcom gun you get a complete rebuild kit thrown in anyway
i have all the restricted bellhousing caps for the 0.9 set ups a 308 cap for lower cfm spraying with a wider paatern i use that also for the 1.5 set p ,i also have a full blown hvlp delrin cap for the 1.5 ,without digging it out i cant recale the actual number asigned to it
if memory serves then Foose could be useing a 705 or 706 cap,if his issac is the HS model it could well be a 726 which is red and for high solids the HS guns are silver where the stock issac 7 is black
as i say Accuspray have an aray of caps inc low CFM caps and ones designed for higher viscosity aplication ,often they also vary depending on the tip size hence why they produce so many caps
i believe they are still available,i believe TCP global still list them and few other dealers in the states ,they mainly stopped listing spares and could not give any guarantees as to availablity of them
i like them however all three of mine where purchased extremly cheaply off ebay lol but untill 3M resolve the spares issue you may not wish to invest in them ,on that note it has been a while since i chased up any spares so maybe it isnt the issue it once was
Accuspray guns always came with many many different aircap specifications from full blown HVLP to low CFM consumtion ,some where designed for HS clears etc some for lower viscosity materail so beware of what set up you choose and do your homework first
are they worth it ,well Chip Foose seemed to think so from what you say lol
one thing i realy like about Accuspray guns is the extremly soft trigger pull
i have a couple of issacs and a 900i suction pressurised version ,they are true HVLP turbine guns and will also run off a compressor ,astonishing transfer rates and an extemly soft pattern ,i have completly primed a car in an unextracted non booth situation and there was virtualy no overspray ,they primer had to be overthinned though as the true HVlP caps dont like thicker material ,i suspect they would be ideal for flake jobs though but i can imagine Foose was conserving base as well as getting a good aplication from the Issac
another interesting and unusual gun is the DUX HVLP ,useing formula one laminar airflow technoligy it claimes up to 40% higher transfer rates than most other HVLP guns
on a note the Issac was made by Accuspray USA however since being bought out by 3M it is now made in Mexico and the spares situation has become very unreliable ,they are often used for SMART aplications with thier special bellhousing technoligy aircap which is supposed to envelope the spray pattern and eliminate halo effects
i believe the wbx has a few aircap options ,at Aston the sprayers prefer the gold cap variant for clear although the choice of clear gun is up to the sprayer as Aston only stipulate the GTI Pro for base
essentaily the WBX is no different to most guns in respect that technicaly they can all be used for base or clear ,how well they do either is another matter entirely lol
on the subject of the Ballaria from what i gather from Iwata themselves is the it is indeed a more economical option to the Supernova ,less fussy to set up and cheaper to service
also from what i am hearing the Devilbiss prolite is has hit Iwata sales [and probably other marques] so they may well be pushing the Ballaria over the Supernova in order to compete in a lower price bracket especialy as many shps and sprayers will buy with price in mind
found this for the 900 LVLP
Optima 900L LVLP Spray Gun (Gravity Feed)
Item No.: 900 L / SG3213
Technical Information:Nozzle: 1.4mm
Atomization Technique: LVLV (Low Volume Low Pressure)
Transfer Efficiency: >70% (acc. to VOC – regulation)
Air inlet pressure (opt.): 2.0-2.5 bar
Air consumption: 215 l/min
Cup Capacity: 600ml
Weight (without cup): 530gwell i suppose it depends on the model ,an LVLP set up by its name sugests it uses low volumes however even the compliant versions of most guns are usualy around 11.5 CFM ,i may have my original documentation knocking around for my 900i ,if so ile check what it says
my list of minis i would wholeheartidly recomend range from the ANI R1 HPS also sold as the Draper expert and also branded up for Kent amongst others ,the faithfull olde Walcom STM now superceded by the EGO model ,the Iwata W101 and i could also now recomend the Spanish made Aerometal Victoria mini guns ,i just scored one cheap off ebay and was pleasantly surprised at the overall build quality and the spray quality ,my one is the HVLP version with a 1.0 set up and even that set up seems to cope well with un thinned lesonal HS Extra although so far i have only done a couple of small jobs with it,availabilty may be an issue though
an 1.2 ANI R1 HPS/Draper expert absolutly lashes the clear on ,a whole bonnet is not unfeasable and i set my one up with a 600mlpot for clearing whole bikes and the sides of smaller cars however they are available with set ups down to 0.6 and also HVLP
the iwata 101 is bullet proof and also capable of clearing larger stuff ,the W300 is the centre post version and i thiink i would prefer it over the 101 for that reasonPaul
i have never felt the build quality of the minjet matched its price imo the SRI is better built and also cheaper to service ,build quality has always been an issue with sata for me
pot lids crack and split like its big cousins ,fan splitter nobs often turn on thier key and also crack ,the quick guide on the gun body tends to split and i just dont like the fidjity air micrometre set up which is often stiff and way too small ,and as air micrometer nob is also plastic like the fan splitter nobs then they wont take a drop
imo they arent the best spraying mini guns about anyway and even the 1.2 imo struggles with clear compared to other similar guns i have used
as the SRI Pro is convertable between HVLP and Transtech it also has better options as the minijet is strictly HVLP
i much prefer the lay out of the SRI from the fan splitter to the air micrometre ,oh yes whilst we are at it the Sata fan splitter has always been cuased me problems as my thumb tends to rub against it and turns the fan down as i am spraying ,it has caught me out a few times and as they wear and loosen up the issue gets worse as the gun gets older
personaly if hadnt got the mini cheap and or i had to choose strictly between the Devil and the Sata it would be the Devil

i use a Walcom Geo ,sensational for blends
Hey Paul you still using the fx model geo? What setup you got in it?
actualy although min
e is a gravity model it isnt marked as an FX but an FZ which when you look should be the suction version ?? that apart as i mostly do bikes i set mine up witha 1.2 however i have done large completes with it and vans ,i have also seen sensational results with clear using a 1.5 set up ,one i sold which wasa 1.4 my friend dedicated to just waterbase so all in all they are a very versatile gun but admitidly a bit slower than the HA when dealing with HS clears etc etcthe other usefull thing about a Geo is its astonishingly low air consumption as low as 7.5 CFM depending on the set up used ,so when compared to say a Sata HVLP your running costs are cut in half compresser wise ,transfer rates on all the walcom range are above 70% but most importantly the finish quality is always superb imo
i know i rattle on about Walcom guns but they are priced well and the quality of the guns are at least as good as any other top marque
BTW the Geo also has the option of a titanium nozzle reputed to be ten times more durable then the standard Inox SS nozzles
i suspect Trizact would do the trick as it leaves a a very even matte finish ,i have even considered using stock gloss clears and simply matting them with Trizact as a finished product ,done that way a job could be recitifed in the future simply by going over it again with Trizact
