OKAY, profile pic changed sorry if you’re really a fag ben but thanks for the compliment. Anyway the photos didn’t upload right from when I primed it today I’ll put them up tomorrow for sure. Gonna take probably a couple weeks of sanding before it’s ready for paint.
My wife and I aresure I’m not a fag…thing is, Bondo here just fantasizes that I were :rofl
Sad thing is in a lot of those tech schools they dont teach you how to take anything apart. keep going to school and keep coming here and you’ll have a chance of learning some good stuff
When I went to SAIT, they were big on taking stuff apart and doing it properly…
Um don’t know about the profile pic  This is an Autobody forum not gonna pick up anyone on her (maybe ben :lol1 ) Just kidden Ben 😉 But welcome to the board. Alot of great guys and info here :welc
looks like I get it from everybody now…:lol1
…looks like a good start on the Grand Am
Jayson is correct. You will turn a silver with EC or DC into a bass boat in the summer with a 1.3. Trust me on this. There are times here when the 1.4HC doesnt wet it up enough.
Have a look at THIS Ben. Devilbiss recommends a 1.4 to 1.5 with a 1.4 being optimal for most conditions.
I did have a look at that before and thought it said 1.3 or 1.4 (not 1.4 or 1.5). But I probably wasn’t wearing my glasses when I read that
The other bodyman at work is pretty good with the product, unfortunately neither of us has had the luxury of the training course…just what we read in the tech sheets and the little experience we have with the product.
I appreciate all the input Ryan and Jayson :teach
Definately move up to the 1.4,that is the recomended tip for autowave.I had to use a 3000hvlp with a 1.3 for a demo before we switched to autowave,it was difficult to put it on wet enough and was challenging to do the drop coat without going on dry.I have had many a day in the summer when 40-50% reduction was needed for metallics with 888C/888EC to lay out properly.Don’t drop your pressure as much as EHP for your control coat,a few psi will do.
Thanks Jayson. Devilbiss recommends the 1.3 with the Tekna (for auto wave), but I will try the 1.4 when it is warmer. For the last few metallic jobs I haven’t really dropped the pressure (like I did with the ehp), rather just backed off to about 12″ or so for the drop coat. I’ve been doing my spray out cards 1/2 with and 1/2 without the drop coat. That one drop coat makes a huge difference on most colours

What size tip ya using in your Tekna?
Its the 1.3 and the 7E7 air cap.
I gather by all the talk tonight that everyone wants me to model more often :lol1
I’m not too sure how warm it gets there in the summer but if the humidity is low you may want to look into a 1.4 for your Tekna for basecoat. It’s only about $100 in the states for a tip and needle for that gun. If it doesnt get too hot you might be fine.
It can get pretty hot in the summer, I will definitely keep that in mind. Thanks! :cheers
it was just to easy with that photo :rofl :rofl :rofl
that and my brother in law is a little fruity as well
I know…I have a nice new paint suit and the devilbiss hood makes me look like a fool…but I swear it doesn’t matter what I have on, I always look just “fruity” when I gear up for paint… :rofl
Here’s an old one for Jayson…this isn’t too bad

I’ve been using it for base, spraying at 22-24 psi. (same when I sprayed PPG, but would do the control coat around 15-17 PSI).
I’ve tried it a few times with clear. Seems to work well around 27-30 PSI.I think it is the best Devilbiss gun I have used. I’m happy and would buy more, the price is fair.
Well, I got that 1500 back together a few days ago:
