Im with you on the increased pressure for Iwata.. I run my at around 25 lbs for clear.. Lays clear much nicer at that for me than 16.. I dont use the LPH at their recommended settings 😛 as I have always been told its simply a starting point 😉
April 13, 2009 at 3:45 pm #13959Well I talked to the owner of the Sub tonight at work.. As I had said once before.. He bragged about selling drugs… anyways, he offered me a substantial sum of money over what I quoted him if I would bump someone out and put his truck in line next :wak
Money is looking good, but now I gotta have a booth to shoot this in..
Any of my local guys here rent a booth to me for a day so I can shoot this monster?? I figured I would jamb it and cut it all in here, then it would be a wipe down and spray job once i got it in someones booth.. Lil trailer ride to someones shop, a quick wipe down with waterborne wax grease remover then a tac cloth right before I shot it…
Soooo, still dont know if I will take it in or not.. I would like to, however with my space I dunno.. running lots of options thru my head..
Time for bondoking to go to bed boys.. Been spraying prime all night at Ford.. I am tired..
Hope everyone had a Happy Easter
Nite Nite

I shot the body in 2k since I had numerous places on each panel that had body work.. I will post up some pics either later which its already 1 am here, or in the morning when i am about to fall over asleep… :rofl
I also shot the hood in epoxy as well as all the little misc parts, like door handles, fuel door etc etc..
I need a garage.. Doing something like this in here just plain sucks :cens … I miss my last house and my garage I had there :S
April 9, 2009 at 9:06 am #13903I will let you all know how it turns out..
Perhaps I was not clear in my first post.. I never told the owner I wold do the truck for only 4 g’s, I told him I would not even consider touching it for anything less than 4 g’s.. I also told him I would have to crunch numbers see what materials would cost etc etc..
I understand what you all are saying though,.,. In that whatever number they hear fist is what sticks in their head.. I think the same thing happened here.. I said 4 thousand and everyone has kept that number in their heads 😛
this guy is some self proclaimed drug dealer :wak  as he brags about the drugs he sells etc to his co workers.. so I have a feeling cash is not going to be an issue for him… The things people brag about eh?? :rofl
April 8, 2009 at 6:06 pm #13891I somehow managed to get the rest of the week off from Ford so I wont see the guy until Sunday or Monday night, but I really dig all the info you guys have posted up..
Ryan I will look for a young whipersnapper who wants to make some cash.. If I cant find one and your helper is down for the extra cash then I will give you a call bro.. I have your number :cheer:

April 7, 2009 at 9:52 pm #13860Cool guys I appreciate the info… :pcorn:
I know my pricing has gotten low.. I used to charge really well for everything I did, even when I would do an occasional collision repair.. When the economy took a really good dump a while back, my business came to a hault.. I lost customers who tried their best to get me to come down on show work yada yada yada..
When I finally started getting business again is when I dropped my prices lower than what I would have ever worked for before.. With tough times and being laid off 31 weeks last year I put myself in the mindset that “a little money was better than no money”..
I agree I have been pricing my work waaaay to low.. Also could be I hang around that old guy Jim Clark.. Hell he uses toilet paper instead of paper towels in his garage and the same mixing pail for years and years :roflIm gonna run the price thru the roof and leave it at that.. I almost told him $6000 last night just to even consider it like i did with the 4 gs, but I wimped out and went low… CRAP… I GOTTA QUIT HANGIN OUT WITH OLD CHEAP GUYS :wak
April 7, 2009 at 5:19 am #13843Update..
I had to take the family camping this weekend and could not find a way out of it.. So that killed getting the car into paint this weekend..
I did manage to get the engine bay and body sealed.. the hood body work finalized and now I need to prep the small parts like door handles, scoops/ vents etc..
The bumpers also need final scuffing.. between the letters, around all the edges and any nicks fixed…. Deck lid needs underside scuffed and its ready to shoot..The owner called me and wants me to repair some rust i found on the body where the rear bumper mounts.. That will slow thins down as well..
Just a few pics.. I put the fenders back on after the epoxy had dried for more room in the garage… They will get pulled when I spray it in color and clear

Would have gotten more done today, but when I came for a bathroom break my wife was at her breaking point with the kids.. Once she started to leak from her eyes I thought maybe I should stay inside and help her instead :cens Always something to stop me from working out in the garage :wak

April 3, 2009 at 3:22 am #13775You know, thru trial and error I have learned what covers easier and that is what i use.. Im personally not concerned with total hiding of any base.. I just want it to cover and “look as it should”.. Im am concerned with solvents and too many coats of any product 😉
April 3, 2009 at 3:17 am #13773Do tell where you get all the dog food bags 😛
