I understand Jim.. Im thick skinned as it is;) , besides there is no room on forums to be sensitiveB) .. This has been an interesting job dealing with this guy.. He is a great kid, just not what i am accustomed to dealing with.. He went to photobucket and watched the video I had made and posted on here, and then called me very defensive about the windshield..I called him a “kid” in that video.. I remember when I was his age I would have not wanted to be called a kid.. lol lol lol Note to self, remove that video:laugh:

Lets see, I went to bed at 12:30.. it was my time to feed the baby so momma could get some rest.. I did not mind taking a break from the fumes though;) Got up at 4:30 this morning, but could not muster the energy to take myself to the garage until about 5:30:P

2k I shot last night has been sanded dry with 320, the wet 400 and then wet 1000.. Is that my normal procedure?? No, seem to have gotten carried away with the grits this morning,, Guess its the lack of sleep.. I remember in my early 20’s I would pull an all nighter all the time doing all overs.. then sleep about 4 hours the next morning and go right back out to the garage to finish up or just to continue to work.. Not sure what happened to that guy, but I aint got it in me anymore:blush: I pulled an all nighter twice 2 years ago and swore them off for good.. If only I were as young as Jimmo..

Anyways getting this thing to paint has been much slower than I thought, but I seem to forget when thinking about how long it will take me that I have a family in the house.. and whenever i go inside, it takes a good while to get back out.. I try to help out the wife as much as possible too.. She has allot on her plate everyday with these wild kido’s..

Here is one more pic.. just sanded 2k.. nothing to get excited about or anything;)

Ok fellas.. mornin.. I agree with you all.. needs the WS pulled..
He would not hear of it, so I had him sign an agreement that I was not repsonsible for a new windshield not fitting in the future..
I also told him a shop would probably replace the post as Ryan pointed out..
Yes I have a stud welder
My buddy up the street has a porta he told me I could borrow anytime.. thats what I planned on in the begining when we struck the deal
Pnlbtr4life no pity needed bro.. I also understand u take pride in what you do.. as do I.. this is one job I wont be happy about when it leaves though

Most of the time I always end up doing more than what any customer pays for.. that also includes the resto work I do.. in the end its worth it to me..

Now out to get out my BFH and see what damage I can do

Here is another thought to throw into the equation.. When you dont “set up” your gun and just go balls out, your not atomizing the solvents at the tip of the gun as it is intended to do.. In essence you are spraying out big droplets of solvent on the panel that will have to shrink down, vs laying down correctly atomiozed small droplets that will shirnk much less as it drys because they were atomized at the tip..More food for thoughtB)

I think the wide open gig has come from all the old school painters.. No offense to any, but here is my reasoning.. back in the day when i started out, the controls on the gun were pretty much useless except for the fan that I would adjust as needed, however everyone and anyone you talked to told you to turn the fluid control knob all the way out and let it ride..
I painted like that for probably a decade.. Did not use much flash times either and rarely saw any issues per say, however i have learned since then that setting the gun up to lay out nice thin even coats is the only way to do it properly in my opinion.. You will create far less urethane wave and when it all shrinks down I think you have a nicer finish..

I rarely turn my fluid out more than 3 or so these days, versus when I used to crank it out 8 or however many until the knob popped out and then I would turn it back in a half turn… Man how times have changed.. Use alot less product these days too:laugh:
