Real nice stuff Bloverby ……I could use one of those golf carts, looks like they’re perfect considering how far into the woods I drive my ball:P

Big difference between the two eh! Those small fittings gotta be choking air volume…
I’m not for sure if you use them but hi-flow fittings will make a world of difference with this gun. When I first got mine about 3 1/2 years ago, I had no idea about hi-flow fittings i just used a standard quick disconnect. I hated this gun! Once I switched over it made a world of difference.
Yes I’m running all Hi-flow or fittings…or HVLP fittings as some call them.
No prob, Keep in mind I’m assuming the 1.4 would be much better, Bloverby sounds like he’s tried it and didn’t notice much different. If you do get the 1.4, let me know how you find it.
I’ve got one coming in…supposed to be here in a couple of days…I’ll let ya know if it helps.
I’ve done quite a few completes w/ an lph-400. Both a 1.4 and a 1.3. Not a whole lot of difference in travel speed/ material delivery between the two IMO. It’s a little slower than a compliant gun, but it gets the job done with less overspray.

How close are you to the panel while spraying with that gun? That gun likes to be crazy close to a panel like 4″, to work right.

Now if we’re talking base and the LVB (purple cap),,,,,,,, yeah,,,,,,, now that’s slow,,,,,,,, to slow,,,,, not even worth the effort to attempt to use as far as I’m concerned, I still like my t-1 HVLP for base.
I actually moved in to 4-5″ from the panel…still slower gun speed than my RP…cranked it up to 25psi at the gun…. 4 turns out on the fluid…turned the fan in to 8″…huge fan on this gun! I’m going to slow down a tad more next time. I’m using my SATA for sealer/base…comfortable with that gun.
I have an LPH with a 1.3 also. i mainly use it for base. I have noticed with clears it goes on slowwww. Huge difference with that and the RP! I’d seriously look into a 1.4 like everyone else has pointed out, I bet that will make a huge difference. I’m still waiting for my 1.4 for my Iwata W-400. Have the same problem with the 1.3 for that. I did spray a complete with it the other day, it turned out pretty good.
Thanks Jimmo…I’ll make a call and check on the price and availability of the 1.4…I dropped a line to ‘Hub’ on the Anest message board to see what he has to say about this setup.
I’m guessing that your a Sikkens user by your avatar. What clear are you spraying. If it’s Autoclear 3 then no I wouldn’t use the Iwata. You would need to put a 1.4 nozzle in it. If it’s HS+ then you might be able to pull it off. Iwata recommends a 1.4 for all sikkens clear. You might have better luck with the W-400. It is a compliant gun like the RP. When my shop was still using Sikkens and I had to do a complete I would use a 1.4, if I didn’t it would look a little dry the next day. Plus it was slow.

The cool thing about an Iwata is that to change your gun from a 1.3 to a 1.4 all you need is a fluid nozzle. The air cap and needle are the same. Also you can turn a LPH into a W-400 by replacing the aircap, nozzle and needle. It is the same gun body.
I’m actually using Akzo’s ‘budget’ line…U-Tech 4.0 Select.. 4:1 HS. Good to hear about the interchangeability of the gun!
Mine has a 1.4 tip. I run it wide open with the air pressure cranked up a bit. It’s not real fast, but it does lay out the clear smoooooth and is fast enough.

If your RP is working for you, and since it is a much faster gun, you might just want to stick with it:)
Hey Alex….I’ll give the Iwata a chance…I’ve heard good things about them once a guy finds the right set up.

Did you leave the filter in the PPS lid? That might be too restrictive for poly.

It’s funny you mention activating it then shaking it….my former boss activated some slicksand then put it on the shaker…blew the lid right off it 😛 :silly: …what carnage.
