November 9, 2012 at 4:53 pm #39015You really should take a class from your paint manufacturer. I know it’s a few days away but they go over the whole paint system. do’s and dont’s. proper procedures. It would be an invaluable experience for you.
November 8, 2012 at 3:06 am #38958Not sure what you have for sealer. The tech sheet will tell you. usually a minimum 15-20 minutes. 1k sealer should not be used. you really need to seal new replacement parts. the e-coat primer that comes on them is not meant to be based directly upon. Your tech sheets will tell you that as well. Also sealing over checked or cracked paint will enure you a failure down the road. Faulty paint needs to be removed. Your paint job is only as good as what is underneath
November 8, 2012 at 2:39 am #38956Dont take this the wrong way, But you really need to read your tech sheets. The methods you described are backyard at best. I commend you for what you are trying to do and the effort involved, but it doesnt take any longer or cost anymore to do things the proper way and it will only improve your quality and your business.
November 7, 2012 at 2:39 am #38931
I just bought my first gal of 2 K and it is white.
What do you put on new partsNovember 5, 2012 at 12:20 am #38909And going right to 220 from 80 grit is too big a step. I bet there were plenty of 80 grit scratches that were not removed. Nice big scratch for everything to sink back into over time
October 26, 2012 at 1:55 am #38795Another vote for 3M Platinum. $38gl vs over $50 for any Rage product
October 26, 2012 at 1:52 am #38794The primer Len sprayed with the sagola will lay smooth with a roller. The 3m gun is nice. I got mine free with the purchase of a set of caps ($18.00) Talk to your jobber, you may be able to get a good deal as well ;). The only down side of the 3m is that is is extremely slow. if you are priming whole panels it pretty much blows. The Sata primer guns are honestly the best I have used. They work really well for the higher solids primers.
