We put it back to the original color. another shop changed it back in 89 when it was damaged by a tornadoJust thought I would post a photo of my headlamps that I sanded and buffed a little over a year ago. no coating on them (well except for the nice layer of bug guts) and probably haven’t washed the thing in more than 2 years

I buff them. First I sand them down with 600 on the da and get all the coating off of them that causes the haze. then 1000 and finally 1500. been doing them that way for over 5 years. never had a comeback. the ones on my own saturn i did over a year ago and they still look good
i love my makita as well. the only problems i have had is with the wires breaking from the cord getting twisted as you move it. easy fix though
looks like the base was a silver with a little red tint in it to make it pink. scary thing is the base color is right on top of the bare metal :blink:
doesn’t make sense. 909 is contaminated maybe??? I use glaso 700-1 then r-m 900 with no problems
thanks jim. I had gotten the code of off color rite for the red. I have access to ppg color online so i put searched there with no avail. I found a chip for the red thats close but being a candy the chip isnt dark enough when the lights not on it and its not bright enough when the light does shine.
the bronze is really a black with some gold and red pearls. that shouldnt be too hard to make.
since there isnt anything that directly butts up against the tank I can probably get away with the chips I found but will likely tweek them to match a little better:welc :welc :welc

you want to shoot a sealer over it before you put any base on it otherwise it wont last
