Stay busy and use your time wisely. It’s good to be fast but doing the wrong thing really fast doesn’t really matter. Try to stay organized and have some type of systematic approach of doing things. One that will work in your particular shop. Qualify your colors (make spray cards) for up-coming jobs in between coats of other jobs. Focus on quality. Speed will come over time. Doing any job twice kills production.

If I was doing it I wouldn’t sandblast or mediablast unless it had a lot of paint (which is not the case :cheer: ) or if it is rust pitted. I would most likely sand it down to metal on the factory painted panels. You could use a chemical stripper but you would have to be careful to protect the jambs and lower sections from the stripper. Also on panels without body work you could use an etch primer and skip the 2k primer and go straight to a 2k sealer at least with dupont and standox you can. By the way,you have 2 nice rides there. Post some pics. when your’e done. :cheers
I dont spray chromax pro but I have the formulas on my computer. I spray standox solvent. There are 2 b/c formulas and one 3 stage but the mid-coat for the 3 stage doesnt have a formula. I would try a camera shot and see if a 2 stage formula would work or even mix a little of each and do a couple spray cards. If neither of the b/c alternates work. I would try scanning the database without any vehicle info using a camera shot. I would only look into the 3 stage as a last resort unless someone gets on here and says its the only way to match this color.Have fun.
I just ran my latest update disc and found there are now 2 tri-coat formulas for this code. The latest formula doesn’t have a mixable mid coat either. :headsmack: I would still try to match it in 2 stage.

I tend to get fairly upset when I see any silicone products anywhere near my paint shop. :hunt :chair 😆

Something we have been using lately are the 3m flexible hookit hand sheets. They do a really nice job for getting into tight places and actually sand instead of scuff. I’ve only tried the 600 and 800 grit but there’s also 400,1000,1200,and 1500.

If I was driving a vehicle that was being repaired I would try to do a panel at a time or atleast a repair at a time and get it under the best primer you can afford. If there’s not a lot of bare metal you could use a spray can etch primer with a good 2k primer over it. I did an old pick-up like that and drove it for 3 years in primer with no problems. You could also look into an epoxy primer but I haven’t had much exp. with those but I’m sure other folks here have. Good luck. :cheer:

I http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yuZUQHlXmYo I dont think thats a very good display of that gun’s speed but it’s very entertaining. :pcorn: Here’s one I did yesterday with the ws400 hd 1.3 using standox 16252 1.5 coats @27psi.The video quality is not the greatest but sort of shows what this gun can do I guess.

that dude was kinda slow there. lol Here’s a raw video of me using my ws400 hd 1.3 with standox 16252 1.5 coats @27 psi. I,m not moving real fast but not too slow either imo with decent results. I used 28oz. of clear on that job.

I have the w400 lv4 and the ws400 evo hd 1.3 . The ws is much faster. Not as fast as the rp 3000 or 4000 but imo it’s not too much slower. With the ws I been using between 25 and 28 psi depending on the clear and the texture I want. Also the supernova has a very nice feel to it .I bought mine on e-bay at a very good price. 😉
