    I know I dont need it on a solid color, but it would be nice to feel it out before its more critical and I do need it. Didnt get a chance to spray it today. It was pretty chilly out this morning and it pushed everything back a bit. Its all fixed, primed, sanded, and ready to spray in the morning.

    Sorry guys I should have been more clear about it. The jobber comes and shoots it, then goes back, mixes, and returns the color to us.
    We don’t have normal work orders for ours here. I don’t know exactly how it works??!! The cars are here, and we simply fix them. No estimates or anything. Like I said the guy that owns this place is a big shot at the dealership, so somehow we just do them. Apparently their body shop sucks?

    OK guys I think I got it. Since this is a solid color I’m just going to spray it before my base color. I had to prime up to the edge of the bumper, I guess I will need to blend into the fender.
    And no mini gun today. I forgot I have to do the tail gate as well.

    Ok, so tomorrow I am spraying a small upper bumper on the 09 GMC truck. Maybe I will try it out on there to get a feel for it. It has 2 small damage spots on the drivers corner. Truck is white by the way. So I know I dont really need to use the 500, but it wont hurt right?
    Im thinking I will repair the damage, fill whatever… Then spray my primer. Sand/feather out the primer. Then spray the 500 down, blend with straight base, then mix in some of the 500 to further my blend? Then of course clear the whole panel. No sense in blending the clear on that small piece. Sound right?
    Hell, maybe I will even spray it with my new Sagola mini and see how it goes.

    Ive had good luck so far (which hasne been much). Perfect match each time. But yeah Im hoping things slow down a little where I can take some time to do better work. Plus the other guy is there now and that will help a lot.
    And 8 jobs a day?! How the hell can you get that much done? I think I only did 8 jobs this week. Are you only spraying? Took me 5 hours today to pull the nose off an 09′ GMC truck, pull the grill off, the plastic filler piece, and the lower black plastic part and attached fairing, and swap over all the mounts to a new bumper (metal part). Still have to repair the painted filler part, and paint. Then reassemble and mount it back up.
    Speaking of that, we dont have anything that tells us the kind of time it should take. Is there a place I can find that out? Just to give myself a baseline of how im doing….or should be doing!

    Ive used a camera a couple times where PPG shows 5 damn different variants. Most recently on those 2 new black trucks.

    Maybe I will try spraying the whole panel with it first (wetbed?) to learn the properties before I get too crazy with it.

    Would I spray the color/intercoat mix over the entire based area, then feather it out further than the base only, or just use it to go from where the last coat feather stopped and feather out further. I assume over the entire based area as well, but want to be sure.

    I hate to be the grammar police, but no capitalization or punctuation makes it really difficult to read and follow. I know many are using their phones, but really…put some effort into it guys.

    40 grit is pretty rough. If you use that, be prepared to use slick sand or something like that to fill up the scratches. Ive done it many times, and I usually make sure I leave it sit a while to be sure there is no shrinking. Never had a problem, but I would hate to tell you to do it and have something happen. And 80 grit would be better, but that would take you a while to do. Choose your poison.

    Paul: So your saying I should lay the binder first, then add 50% binder to my reduced color for my next coat? And never spray any straight base?
