Detailing is an art all it’s own. And there are tons products available
for just about anything. It can get confusing at first.

There are a few all-purpose cleaners that help a lot. Here’s a VERY
    short list:

    1. HD TOTAL all purpose cleaner – interiors/exteriors/wheels/tires/engine bay/buffing pads and just about everything. Great smell. This is my go-to all purpose cleaner that replaces the ones listed below.

These Meguiars products are good but the smell is terrible
    2. Meguiars All Purpose Cleaner – interiors/exteriors
    3. Meguiars Super Degreaser – wheels/tires/engine bay/exteriors

For brushes, Pepboys has a good selection for wheels and interiors.

Try HD POXY sealant/wax, it’s bit expensive for a 9 ounce bottle
BUT it’s extremely easy to use. It goes on everything and looks
*almost as good as the Blackfire Wet Diamond sealant but MUCH easier
and faster. And with the 9 ounce, i can do at least 10 cars.
Check out the PRO products; better value.

I’m going to start charging extra for detaling. Working on a list
of detaling packages… Many detailers charge around $130 for a
wash/clay/wax job with light interior cleaning. But when repairs
are over 2g’s, like in my recent jobs, i just include it and take
a few extra days (if needed). Yes, i make my customers wait but
    they LOVE it.

And it not only needs to look good, but the interior has to smell
good (HD TOTAL smells fantastic). And don’t forget dressing the
wheel wells. Lots of small touches but when combined, it leaves
    a very good (lasting) impression.

Sometimes i do a full colorsand/buff. It depends on the amount
of trash. And, sometimes, when i shoot like butt. 😛

That is a good deal. But i do get a decent shop discount through
my local guy; around 20% off. But Len is cool.

    SPI Euro 5100 4:1:1

Sunday funday! gonna go finish it up a bit…

White is hard to tell but the car is very dirty. After claying,
I did a quick one step polish with a Porter Cable with Menzerna 203
Power Finish then sealed with BlackFire Wet Diamond. Good stuff,
    looks great on darks.

I used my LPH80 for one job only. Just keeping it clean.

And it’s time for a few new guns. I’ve been a good boy.

Kinda late but…you might wanna consider the LPH 80 1.2 minigun.
It’s perfect for those small jobs.

Use the Sata NR2000 for metallics and clear
Get the Iwata W400 (or LPH) for solid colors and clear

Use the Devildrips for sealer and primer

The 7311 is a very good allover clear. But not good for collision work; the amber
cast is a bit too much.

    Transtar 7311:

Um… with all the idiots out there, the instructions are TOO complicated!

Looks damn good! I need a new gun now. My old one is dirty…

You do have better options. Better products at better prices. But, like me,
    you’ll have to order online.

I’ve used lots of Transtar products and although the 7311 is nice, the amber
cast is too much. However, the price is good, around $130/kit for nearly
2 gallons. And their primers aren’t very good; shrinks like crazy…

Check out my recent threads regarding SPI Euro Clear. It’s around $90/kit
but seriously better than the 7311.

I operate a small shop too and understand where you’re coming from. No need
to tell you that it aint easy. I don’t have the luxury of spending $500 on
a pint of base like these hot shots here. 😉

    Welcome jantxx!

I have a small shop also in San Fernando valley. I do all the painting too.
Where are you located? What materials are you using?

Mo, i was using mostly the MS clear. And the older Euro 2020; it was easy
to shoot but cured rock hard which meant polishing out nibs was a PIA.
I do prefer a somewhat harder clear as it is easier to keep swirl free.
And after long hours of cutting and buffing, the last thing i want is for
the paint to swirl up after a wash.

Charging for detailing…that depends on the what needs to be done. I’ll need
to work out packages. Been spending lots of time on final detailing already.
And the response has been very good.

    Thanks Brian!

This is the 2.1 VOC Euro 2020 shot with the LPH of course. 😉
