Got a few new items not shown but here’s my setup.
The pad washer, in the lower left, can be a huge
time saver when working large jobs.

I’ve noticed that many guys don’t clean the surface well
in between steps. Especially after the initial compounding,
be sure to remove all residue before moving on.

Forget the samples. Get a gallon. 🙂

Try using a short 3/4″ nap wool pad from Micro-Surface. Cutts/finishes
extremely well and the short nap keeps more product on the surface.
But, you’ll also want to get a foam backing plate; Meguiars W66 or
3M 09553 ($70 bucks ouch!).

Meguiars M105, M205 and Menzerna Final Polish II.

Very good stuff. The M105/M205 have abrasives that don’t
break down like all the others. And they work great at
low rpms (under 1200). less heat, less splatter, less swirls…

Q-tips, various nylon brushes, pipe cleaners and…

Then i pour some thinner in the cup and let it sit for the
next time.

I think you’re doing a great job with it all. It’s come a long way for sure.

I like the way you work. Clean.

Ha! another one for the Sharpe Finex… Worked ok for a little while.

The Universal plus polar comes pretty damn close to the turbo. And that setup might be even cheaper.
You also have finer control of cure times, which may come in handy for larger panels.

Jim, yeah, the only down side with the Universal is the softness. The MS, although with the same resins,
does cure harder. This is a HUGE benefit for collision jobs. I think it’s just about right; soft enough to buff
but hard enough to not swirl up. Plus, it lays down much easier.

I’m shooting MS right now, the temps are low. And, like you suggested, i’ll be reducing it about 10%.
I’m expecting runs… 🙂

That looks pretty damn good.

SPI MS

😉

SPI for sure. But i’ve found the MS to be a bit more scratch/swirl resistant than the Universal.
It’s also thinner (yet higher in solids) making it easier to shoot; especially working from home.
Can’t go wrong with any their clears, really.

I grew up (or down) in LA. I have a VERY diverse group of friends. Latinos? I can tell you a thing or two… Sure, talking crap is common place. You can even say it’s part of their culture but it’s no different than any other, really. Yes,
I also know when they talk crap. It used to bother me decades ago but i learned
something important: Even though they do, it doesn’t necessarily make them bad
individuals. And the best way to deal with it is by NOT returning the favor.
And, instead, as I’ve mentioned above, I show them respect in return. This approach
works on many levels. It keeps my own hypocracy in check as i’ve been guilty
of the same crap.

As far as appearance and background, yes, it matters in business…

This topic is huge, really….

He crossed a line and that should be obvious. Demanding them to speak English in his presence
tells of his insecurity and paranoia. Demanding them to change their names is racism.

All i ask of my employees is to be sincere and respectful. It’s not about color, business,
status, appearance, culture, education, background, or whatever else. Show respect and
maybe in turn you’ll get some yourself.
1200-1500 for a full fairing bike with a trunk, trailer and some bodywork to boot. boy you just wait!! your going to make like $5 a hour. you’ll have as much time in that as a car.
That was a hard lesson for me… Next time, i’ll log my hours. And even that can get
depressing. If anything, I’ll stay away from crotch rockets. The fewer the pieces;
the better!

I could probably make more painting a few bumpers.

That is bada$$! Serious hours…
