You actually think that you are going to change the minds of the german engineers of a multi billion $$$ company, doubtful.Calling a German engineer from BMW a dumbass is a pretty bold statement :rofl
January 28, 2013 at 8:13 am #40755Still doesn’t change the fact that you don’t have the approval from the oem manufacturer no matter how educated you are.I am not doubting your knowledge or arguing with you but when it comes to repairing collision damage you follow OEM or icar approved methods PERIOD,anything less is a liability waiting to happen. The only way to prove what you say is an acceptable rivet is to repair it like they say with your style of rivets and do crash testing just like the bmw engineers have done.I honestly don’t see how you are going to change that fact :pcorn:
January 28, 2013 at 7:09 am #40749
as a painter for over 40 years I know where you are coming from. The boss is the boss for a reason evan if he is wrong. What makes a great painter is the ability to adapt. Keep looking for another job is the only solution to your problem, belive me you cannot change the boses ways and if you keep fighting with him you might loose your job. Good luck.
Well said 😉January 27, 2013 at 9:40 pm #40706It doesn’t bother me,I just don’t like there products nothing more.If you are working in a high end resto shop why are you guys mismatching products and using(I understand JD green) cheap paint lines? For big $$$ cars you should be using top of the line products and keep within a system as no doubt you would have to warranty all of those big $$$ jobs.
January 27, 2013 at 9:12 pm #40702Your right about that, after trying the 4400 extreme I have no interest in trying any other products from them.
January 27, 2013 at 9:03 pm #40699Sure it would as I have used other high end guns to see a difference. Are you looking to get into a pissing contest or what :S
January 27, 2013 at 8:57 pm #40697Nice score John :clappy If you have the time it would be awesome if you could take pics through the rebuild.I would be interested as would others.
January 27, 2013 at 8:54 pm #40695What have you compared it too is my question?Have you used other good primer guns to compare it too?Its kind of like saying glasso 55 line sprayed awesome compared to omni or nason….well no shit 😛
January 27, 2013 at 8:46 pm #40693sure but saying your new sagola layed polysurfacer like glass is kind of pointless  .Hang around here long enough and you will learn how to spray your clear smoother 😉
January 27, 2013 at 8:14 pm #40687

I get a kick out of guys saying it will put the primer on like glass, really?? who cares you are going to sand it anyway :wak :rofl :rofl
For show cars, you sand clear too, does that mean we shouldnt care how it lays on? :silly:
That is an apples and oranges comparison, and as long as its a nice even wet coat of primer thats all that matters.January 27, 2013 at 7:52 am #40671What kind of booth do you have?Water will work even in a cross flow booth.Portable blowers will work, you don’t need a million $$$ set up.
January 27, 2013 at 6:08 am #40669Honestly I’m not familiar with standox as I have never sprayed it.I couldn’t find a tech sheet for it without registering at their site.I would read a tech sheet for your product and see what they suggest. But if you like speed and you spray in hotter conditions maybe the 1.4 or 1.5 would be the way to go.I’m guessing they would suggest a 1.3,seems dupont likes that tip size.
January 27, 2013 at 3:33 am #40661Kind of depends on what brand of paint you use, could be anywhere from a 1.3-1.5.They don’t atomize as well as an rp but for base thats what you want especially for blending.I would say a 1.4 would work very well with anything.
January 27, 2013 at 12:47 am #40655If you do a search on Andy you will see he used to paint more cars a week than all of us combined,he is a pretty smart guy 😉
