The reason they don’t match is they are sprayed out in autobase plus. The variant decks just give you an idea of the different variants. Now in my experience they are pretty close and the alternate formulas match the vehicle better than the decks and thats all that matters.
The 2 of us at our shop paint about 40-50 cars a week and in 4 years we have only had to tint a couple of colors, thats how good the color match has been for us.Two examples this week are a couple of jobs that we painted the parts off the vehicle and installed,we were allowed to blend but didn’t need to as the match was bang on with the standard. The colors were wa301 red jewel,wa636r switch blade silver. In my 25 years I have never had a better matching product.November 17, 2012 at 7:47 pm #39288Utech MS clear,4.0 clear(with a touch of slow),lesonal universal or glamour clear x2 on what ding said about AG40.
November 17, 2012 at 7:26 pm #39283The adam gauge works pretty good,I used one on my waterbrone 3000hvlp for awhile.I have a brand new in the box first version adam gauge,PM me if you are interested.
November 17, 2012 at 4:49 am #39268It really depends on what products you are spraying for tip size. The 1.4 in the 4000 is not bad for larger jobs, but if you are spraying completes(like large trucks not smart cars) the first gen rp or a 3000 with a 1.4 is still the best for speed.
November 16, 2012 at 4:45 am #39245Honestly you asked,I don’t see the attention to detail like the OP’s work.Shading, colors that work together, tight masking, well thought out graphics that flow together etc.
November 15, 2012 at 11:05 am #39227Well what exactly is your question? There are a few autowave veterans here to answer your questions.
November 14, 2012 at 8:15 am #39183X2 on Dings comments….Vettes can be nasty, you need to use an anti staic wipe/waterborne cleaner to wipe them down. After it is blown cleaned and tacked I will put ppg DX-103 in a spray gun and mist the car and masking paper to kill static.Check out this tool we got one a few weeks ago….

November 13, 2012 at 1:59 am #39139That’s pretty cool, those old fords remind me of growing up on my grandpa’s farm. This thread will get Jack excited 😛
November 12, 2012 at 4:26 am #39120It really depends on the brand some are easier than others, there is a definite learning curve but with your previous experience you should pick it up fast.Maybe try to start off prepping and then work back into spraying gradually with the help of a brand specific certification course.
November 12, 2012 at 2:17 am #39114First off welcome to the site 😉 You are in luck as there is always a shortage of skilled workers in this trade.I would suggest looking on the Canadian job bank website in your area or kijiji.Once you have some contacts start banging on some doors,I’m sure it won’t be hard to get back in the groove.
