What part of Calgary are you at??What dealership do you work at??I’m south of you in Lethbridge. The dent wizard(not stone) pdr franchise manager lives down here,he will be happy 😉

Why is this so hard for you to understand??Get your first color(solid white)to match the car. That is the most important part if it does not match STOP!!!Look at the spray out of the pearl coats you did, what matches the best 2,4,6coats?Put however many coats on to match the rest of the car.If it is easier for you paint the whole side and live with a slight difference in color. You must put on however many coats of pearl on the foundation color to match your car.If this is to hard to figure out take it to a shop and be done with it,a good shop would only charge you $500 to spray it if you prepped it.

I totally agree, the color is gay 😛 But like I always say I just shoot em I don’t pickem.I think it would have looked better black, marina blue, matador red or butternut yellow,it reminds me of barney :rofl The vinyl roof is black and it was a 4spd but now it has a 6spd,kind of a cool old car.

It doesn’t,we just like the tall mixing bank so we can have both systems on it.We have both essential and evolution,we also use imron 5000 and 6000.It’s ok I would rather paint a car.U-tech 3.8 blows delfleet and imron away IMHO 😛

Yes,autowave and u-tech,we do lots of semis,we even have a delfleet system :cens

Actually those are the shop guns I keep mine in my tool box 😉 As for the old syphon feed guns one has etch primer in it(cr)and the other has blending solvent(sra)in it.As for old purple the gunwasher makes it kind of burn 😛

If it is real hot with low humidity you can reduce up to 50%.I can relate I have sprayed lots of different products over the years and everyone is different,to each his own 😉

    Looks good bondo 😉

So you are saying that your blends are grainy? If that is the case your control/drop coat is to dry.Are you flicking your wrist? How far away are you when you do your blend/control coat? How much are you reducing your base?Have you been to one of the sikkens training centers? The 2 day autowave course is a must, they show you all the tricks to make your life easier.Seriously I don’t have problems at all and blending is effortless.Ryan has sprayed cromax pro for a year and a half before sikkens, and he has very good things to say about it.

I was taught this technique years ago by a sikkens tech rep,and now he runs the western canada training center in Vancouver,no sheet I bet he is 60 years old and still at the top of his game. :wak We are so busy in our paint shop when it comes to 3 stages I don’t do let down panels anymore,I just wing it with this technique. The trick once again is to have the right foundation color, reverse blending, and stagger your coats of pearl. After 20 plus years it’s second nature 😉

What issues??I have been spraying autowave for a year and a half in a shop with 2 painters and 16 bodymen,it is fast and works great for us.I’m even an old guy with 23 years experience that didn’t have a hard time with the change :silly:

    July 8, 2010 at 5:56 am #22497

Really??That surprises me,you should tell both of them to put in a system and try them both and see what ya like best 😉

    July 8, 2010 at 3:46 am #22493

Hate to sound like a jerk stanclub but I told you how to blend a tri stage with a couple of indepth posts on another forum.Did you do a let down panel?Did you check your foundation color?I also told you tri-satges can be tricky for someone with little experience and you could end up re-doing it.You need to make sure you color is right before you spray the car :wak Good luck.

    July 7, 2010 at 9:29 am #22474

Gee why didn’t I think of that 😉 Like it or not times are changing, and it is coming fast.

Ya stone were talking about disposable cup systems that take the place of your aluminum pot on your gravity spray gun :rofl We only use them for our waterborne base coat, have you tried cleaning waterborne paint out of an aluminum pot or a plastic pot, real pain in the arse, tough to clean 👿 For clear we just use our regular aluminum pots that our guns came with, keeps the costs down.
