Jayson has the experience with the new rp, he says its far better then the 3000, i have used the the hvlp, & liked far better then the 3000.
I did end up spending the coin for a new 1.4 tip kit for the rp, & been much more happier clearing with it then i was with the 1.3.
November 27, 2012 at 4:10 am #39422no, done it, takes the gun out specs. i did it, didn’t work to good. you’ll end up spraying at an higher psi. plus it’s like 300 bucks for a new needle, nozle, and cap, a few more and you have a whole new gun.
November 25, 2012 at 12:49 am #39398funny thing is, i had a rep come in, rep’d for a store that had both ppg and dupont, but for some reason wanted us to switch to chromamax. which i thought wierd since we are ppg shop, why not just get our ppg bussiness form our current store?..
but have fun jimmo, maybe take all these issue’s with on your training trip, and see how they react.i would personally try to screw it up why your there. no matter what, paint always works better with the reps around then when your on your own, even at the training center where they haven’t changed their floor filters for a yr. have fun screwing wtih them.November 21, 2012 at 8:23 am #39345^^^^i was told by jobers to put @ least 5 coats of it on. No protection. Did a jeep a few yrs ago, looks real nice, flows well. Jeep seems to hold up so far. @ times u can get A 75 bucks kit. I like omnis mc161 clear. Don’t remember the price for it, looks every bit as good as ppgs topself clear.
Come to think about it, i have done a few other jobs with the shop line clear. So far they haven’t came back either, or they got sold.November 13, 2012 at 8:19 am #39153How did u get the guy to give u the cheesey thumbs up smile. The car looks great.
October 29, 2012 at 4:32 am #38828With the tunner scene, this could be very profitable. A nice matte finish, change colors often, nothing perment. Ths could work for those high end cars that want the matt finish, but now it isnt perment & can be taken off when ready to sell.
October 6, 2012 at 10:10 pm #38505Is that a samuel adams. And please dont ever ruin a great finish by puting your ugly azz mug in the pic..
September 25, 2012 at 6:45 am #38371There u go, u answered u own question. Painted parts @ different times. Most likely, u used different psi when painting. Maybe some parts u didnt use enough reducer.
September 6, 2012 at 6:10 am #38211lookd good barry. i know you didn’t have a choice but dang that is a lot of green on the inside. neither less, the thang looks better than factory new.
September 6, 2012 at 6:04 am #38210use a hvlp for primeing, sealing, base, rp or compliant non hvlp for clearing.
September 6, 2012 at 6:03 am #38209i don’t think you need to strip and start over. take some 400 and 600 grit and start blocking. the nice thing is the paint will act like a guide coat. on the areas where you had shrinkage, (basically you put too much on to fast) block well with 400 and if you need to just reprime if you break thru., 600 the rest. stop stressing you’ll be fine.
September 6, 2012 at 5:54 am #38208i agree with jay, color matching is easier with water, but one thing folks don’t know is that the factorys are not required to use wb paints. and one problem with wb to solvent, is that the wb is much more vibirante, cleaner. but lucky for us we do have alternates. i know on my mixing system some of the alternates are listed with a perticular countries. like austrialia for example. whick i thought was weired since ive never seen one imported here.
September 6, 2012 at 5:47 am #38207you can try ppg plastic prep system. it consist of a special sponge/scuff pad with cleaner solution, a cleaner wipe,(must wipe in one direction) and then followed by the plastic adheshion promoter. wait 15 mins. apply either sealer or dp reduced down to a sealer, then paint. but what ever you do don’t warranty. i mean these things are made to go thru hell and back. so i would make that clear to the owners. reguardless of what you use.
September 3, 2012 at 5:50 am #38154Crex I have found mixing the 490 with 494 ESP version of dbc 500. Put that down as a wet bed & lit does help with some metallics.
