Hi there the most common size fluid tips are 1.5mm to 1.8mm and larger for spritz and other primers. Primer gun dosnt have to be flash as they get abused. Devilbiss has a nice primer gun though..

Hi there is the infra red heater short wave, medium wave, or long wave?? if it is short wave you may of had it to close and cooked the paint..
Down draft would be alot more work though.. As blove said may as well go out and buy a cheap downdraft or semidowndraft then you know no one’s going to hassle ya.. 😉
