i wouldn’t seal the whole part unless It’s gonna be shot of the car.standox sealer only has a limited time before you would have to sand and reapply same as dupont and basf. standox has a very nice 1k sealer for small areas that is ready to spray and it is not in a rattle can:laugh: .if im doing a hood ill seal it and the fenders or what not. I used to just scuff and spray but coverage sucked and sealer is way cheaper than tint.I try to lead by example with the other techs so they don’t cut corners.

 Thats pretty bad.We have split the paint hours and booth time up now the time paint time isnt a problem booth time is i told him if you fuck it up then you fix it on your time and the scheduled out date stays the same i don’t make excuses for any other tech and i wont for him. last night be fore i left I did my walk through and the booth had 4 parts that absolutly had to be cuttin and there they sat they had been in there since noon.so i painted them. guess who doesn’t get time for it neither one of them. I have a total of 170 paint hours this week one of them is the 64 tbolt with 74 hours and the rest Ins. work.If they can’t do that between them something is seriously wrong.

hes been painting 9 years and still doesn’t know what a flash time is.He won’t get far with standox you either let it flash or you’ll be doing it all over again.it has the strongest reducers I’ve ever seen.It will be the same old sht all over again.come in late 2hr lunch leave early.I’m gonna loose my best painter and prep tech because daddy can’t say no.they tried to send him to school for refinish but he refused to go because he knows eveything already.we have enough work for the team we have now 1 more is gonna screw it up.I have’nt figured how 2 painters are gonna use 1 booth and 1 prepper. And I sure as hell am not going to go back and fix his sht like i did for 9 years covering his ass because i wanted the job done right. If he f’s something up then it’s gonna come out of his pay and then I’ll be looking for a job I can see it already. Unlike him I do have schooling and am certified in dupont and standox, and estimating and business management.I would be willing to bet he cleaned his guns once a month and couldn’t figure out where the dirt was comming from.I could rant about this forever but it only pisses me off more.

lol jim that is exactly how it works. I finally got the owner to understand that the other day. he hasn’t dealt with any ins co for 5 years and decided that he would jump on in on a car with 2 overlapping claims. It was funny as hell he started cussing 2 minutes into this retards estimate and i mean that as a compliment because the apprasial service estimator had that look in his eyes like a deer in the headlights when he came in.Now he knows why i do my own estimates aned now he will just get the claim info and do our own it took along time but he finally came around.we are a drp for erie and sf and have never had a problem with either.I would very much like to drop all drps period. We have a well know rep and customer base we could and not see any drop in repairs.Hell the first thing i ask any assignment claim is if they want us or if they have a shop they prefer to do the work. And explain to them the laws regarding their choice. I figure that 75% of them are sheep and don’t care but the rest do and it is very rare that we need to move the vehicle.I have made alot of good customers that way.As for 2200 in pdr thats nothing 2005 cadi with 4800.00 in pdr.

sry took so long to get back. the doi is involved now so its out of my hands.I don’t really have apersonal opinion on pdr repairs if thats what the customer wants then thats what they get. I do have a opinion on an ins adjuster telling me how to properly repair a vehicle.and it pretty much goes like go f yourself. It wouldn’t be the first time i walked them out and pointed to the sign and asked them where its says their co. name.
