LOL, i havent gotten around to painting the “booth” white again in over a year.

Ding, No cutting or buffing because its a cab and secondly because the RP makes the clear go down so damn nice. I used the RP for color too :silly:

some epoxy primers seem to gum up the paper quickly,id go with a polyester primer for blocking since youll need to do lots of it, and then a good quality urethane to seal it.

getting these types of jobs in my shop embarrasses me, if someone saw it parked they’d think it was my work waiting for pick up. people who do such awful work really piss me off. if you dont know how to do it just dont do it and save us all the agony.

Mo, ya gotta try not to be too insulting.[/quote]

theres a hot dog truck across the street from me and a lot of my customers are foreigners who wouldn’t ever eat from off a food truck so it makes a lot of sense to them and they usually get my point and go ahead and leave me the keys lol it works!

i do it the same way, i spray sealer inside and out, and finish the jambs completely base and clear, reassemble, and scuff the sealer and spray base and clear on the outside. it saves a lot of time and material.

i often get customers who say to me the guy down the street is able to do it for less so i always say something like this “if your hungry, you can buy a hot dog for a dollar or go to a restaurant and have a meal for 20 dollars, either way youll satisfy your hunger, but the hot dog that cost a dollar may make you sick after wards.”

it turned out the problem really was from me, the paint filter that goes between the gun and cup has a long stem that obstructed the fluid needle. to fix it i just cut off the stem. anyone know how to properly install it? the manual that came with the gun is pretty much useless to me since its written in every possible language but english and didnt seem to have a diagram either.

im surprised you guys are saying the RP uses more clear. compared to the Tekna this thing consumes way less clear even though i sprayed 3 coats. but overall the job came out pretty sweet and practically no orange peel.

only thing i really hate myself for doing is buying the aluminum cup. it makes the gun weigh a ton and the lid’s vent keeps getting clogged

Thanks for the input everyone and keep em coming!

if they were for my own car then yes, for a customer no. they arent that expensive here and id rather just profit from the sale of new ones then spend 2-3 hours on each rim.
