Well Ryan,

I have bought from you before, so I trust you.

How much? Happen to have the orange cap too?

    August 21, 2010 at 5:34 am #24109

I have considered the orange Cap for the past couple months, that was my first and foremost choice, but the only problem I have with that is that I do not want to use one gun for both base and clear.

One of the main reasons is that I keep base in my gun all the way until I clear, in case i spot something I missed right before clear. Also just for the fact of not having to clean out the basecoat gun to use my clear gun.

Ideally yea, if Bondo can sell me his LPH that he never uses or if Blover wants to sell one of his spair LPH’s =)

Maybe about 6-7 hours over the course of a week.

Rat, the compnay laminates the woodgrain over it.

    Thanks Han!

I did $220 on this one, plus he paid $70 to get it woodgrained, they did a great job on the woodgrain.

ahh, Can you buff that one out?

It’s like bloverby told me, if you got something working and going your way, no reason to change it up. But curiousity gets the best of us! Nonetheless, you still did a great job, I have seen worse runs, from…

thats smart, this part is pretty delicate, not sure what a sand blaster would do to it lol.

    July 22, 2010 at 6:12 pm #23172

    Thanks Guys!

I prime them because any of these grilles that come in have rock chips here and there, plus I just feel better primering them because I can take them through the guide coat and I know everything if flat.

Dtur, that chrome is a PITA to sand, it doesn’t scuff worth a poop

But to be honest I can’t tell any difference in the before and after photos from 10′ away.
Yea, Much understood, this thing had fisheyes in alot of places and a signature waterfall that buffed out somewhat.
Are those pics after color sanding? Looks great! Did you use the LPH400 on that?
Those pictures are after after about 25 minutes. At that point no wetsanding had been done at all. Pictures arent processed either. I did some de-nibbing today. I used the LPH400 with a 1.3
Nexson nice job.Next time try the dch3070 hardner.I use this one when I’m doing a bumber or fender, door it dries faster, have had good luck with it.I have used the dc3000 and dc4000 for a few years and the fc710 They sprays real close to the same as each anothere.
Good advice easy, however in my situation with my small booth, it does not filter out the overspray as fast as I spray it, so by the end of the first coat, I am painting in a total cloud. I use the 85 temp hardener to buy me some extra time for the OP to clear out before the second coat, without the qst coat skinning over.

The 70 temp hardner might work out quite well for my small parts =)
NICE!!, how do u like the PPG clear compared to SPI?
SPI lays out nicely, so does the dc3000, I went with the dc3000 because of its rapid drying time, anything to minimize on dust. I would have used fc710, but I dont have much experience with it.
