Bondo, it is no easy task, so I appreciate what your saying. As you know, it takes alot of filling and sanding to get fiberglass smooth, especially ibn those tight spots =)

Andy, it will be painted with SEM Texture and Color coat, no covered

I primered the pod with slicksand, which is a very thick primer. I got it to run in many areas to build up the thickness. Once that was all sanded down I hit it up with some rattle can hi build primer. From here I will tweak out the little defects still around with spot putty. Not much longer now!

As mentioned in the first post, I break down my gun after every use. I first spray thinner through it and then take it all apart and soak in thinner for a few minutes, then blow dry and reassemble.

I put down some Rage Extreme where it needed it. It is now time for primer. I am going to use some slicksand on this panel to fill in all the defects. I have to pick some up though.
Ive seen your stuff in prior threads and it is very nice, your moulding skills are worth alot more $. Jeez the cheesy stuff thats supposed to be made for certain makes in crutchfield is outrageous priced and not near your calibur.
Thanks, I appreciate your kind words. This is the type of work I love to do, which is basically building something up from nothing. I agree I should charge more but it is the difference between doing the job and not.
Those kick panels are shaping up nicely.

    $275 is dirt cheap.

That’s the kind of stuff I did for a living back in the early to mid 90’s and even then we were getting over $300 for a set of glassed kicks like these in my truck that are beat all to hell now.

On the other hand you couldn’t give any of that stuff away around here these days. Car audio is dead in these parts. Only one shop left within a 50 miles radius and he is struggling.
Yea, it is hard for audio shops since that is their job, for me I work on it on the side, so when it comes, it is nice. I personally cannot do this type of work consistently (day in and day out). For now and for my future, I will always do this on the side as it is my passion.

a little duraglass, still alot of smoothing to do, but it is quickly taking shape.

Yes, it is very tedious, but I love fine detail.

jimmo, I have been following the articles each time a new one is posted. This car is going to look so much better! I know how hard it is to do good work on an older car, since it would seem to be easy to cut corners. Nonetheless it looks lgreat and I LOVE that color, it is so pearly!
