i use the 3m transition tape and the ez-edger i would use the transition tape on everything if it didn’t cost so much so i use it on qtrs mostly and then use ez-edger on the rest. if i’m painting a qtr or a fender i will run my tape in the jamb put a piece of 6 inch on that then fold it back on the panel i’m painting then close the hood or deck lid and pull the paper on to them then run my plastic up to that. it saves me masking the jamb of the hood or decklid. ther are a million ways to mask and each person finds the tricks that work the best for them in a productive way..also with the transition tape u can’t pull it tight around corners or it will lift up just like when using the ez-edger. so that about ends my chapter in this novel i am writing.

which brings up an interesting point don’t most paint companies recomend to seal everthing b/4 paint for the best results? so are the non sealed panels going to look good 5 years down the road? and no i don’t seal everything cuz i hate spot sealing…:compsmash

if the audi came black primed or raw from factory don’t remember what they are and it didn’t get sealed or sealed with to dark a sealer. with that color that is why it could be darker

the ones with the d then number are from the global line totally different then the deltron thou both are made by ppg..

yes ppg recomends etch under epoxy unless u have a build of 1.2-1.5 mil. so etch won’t hurt it if using ppg. i use a coarse red scuff pad and wax and grease with it when i have done them.. bc/cc will hold up fine i just like using single stage 2 coats and done…

water based primers are more designed for bumpers imo.. thats what the shoot on rebuilt bumpers have used some on some bumpers and has worked well and sands great. but like jimmo said can’t put it on heavy or it will crack
