Been using Cromax for 10 months I haven’t had any issues like that but I keep hearing if u let the base sit longer 8 hours the clear will not stick and be sure to give the sealer at least 25 to 35 min flash time at 75 to 80 degrees it’s a lot of trouble to make this product work and really not worth it

I agree I’m 28 and I don’t know anyone in this business younger then I am and if the r they don’t want to do it for long they say it’s to much work or to hot and do nothing but complain I keep telling the guys that come in u have to earn respect and work ur way up but they don’t want to and just wan to start making big money just starting out And they don’t know how to do anything

I’ve been spraying since 2004 and have used PPG lesonal BASF dupont chroma base Sikkens and I agree Sikkens is by far the easiest and most user friendly

I bet they said they could do more and color match would be better. Thats the crap my jobber gave me when they took my Sikkens machine away and I keep asking my jobber when will I be able to do more and when will color match start to match and they keep saying everyone else using it loves it so I call and talk to the painters not the managers and the painters hate it and the managers say it good cause they r the ones getting a kick back

Same here I had no choice in the switch and would much rather stay with Sikkens and Jim is the best instructor I’ve had and pretty cool to hang out with but if ur like me u will be able to make standoblue work but ur not goin to like it ive heard the clears are pretty good but I haven’t used standox clears so I can’t tell u from using them just from what I’ve heard

I’ve been spraying Cromax pro for the past 10 months and it’s the same as standoblue and color match sux and blending is a pain in the ass dry time is so slow if u have any issues in the booth u might as well just wipe it off and start again and if u can go with Sikkens autowave it puts dupont and standox water to shame and did u meet Jim Holmer at the ATL training center

Yea thats what I’ve always done I haven’t had any issues

Try putting some flex additive that seemed to help me with that issue but it’s goin to slow it down a little more so need more flash time between coats

I usally sand the whole bumper with 180 make sure to fill all the pits and pin holes in the bumper and prime sand again and if needed reprime but it wouldn’t hurt to prime twice just to make sure everything is filled and covered

I would say just put a few drops of black and put 2 or 3 coats and if I need to I will reclear with regular clear thus will help give it a deeper black look also

Yes dry times r so long and color match sux and spies standox and Cromax pro r all the same just different labels and also have to give sealer like 25 to 30 min flash time

No vent all u want I just like hearing what other painters like and don’t like but I still can’t get the hang of the Cromax it’s coming around slowly but it’s been 9 goin on 10 months and no change I sprayed a 3 stage today and it took damn near 3 hours and all it was was paint the fender front door rear door and blend the hood and quarter and a bumper I hate it an I’m using so much more paint then I did with solvent paint

I’m Using a Sata 4000 RP with a 1.3 head I love this gun for clear the cost I can’t remember the cost for my shop but I want to say for a set up was close to 600 or 700 but that’s without any discount It could also be our jobber jacking up the price but i think it was around that price
