It’s just a molding Epoxy resin, unless the company chooses to clear over or use a high UV protection Resin, You would be informed of it’s uv protection in advertising, and it would cost a lot more than standard Carbon fiber parts.
They don’t use a glaze like fiberglass. It’s just a thick layer of resin, let dry, lay carbon fiber cloth, then more of the same resin.
Believe it or not Just like Fiberglass, Carbon fiber was never meant to be uncoated in high UV area’s.
And if they use a UV protection product on them, it would surely be the Companies biggest advertising method.Generally they’ll start to chalk and pit after just a year.
Hell I think 4-6 months would be calling it close as far as fading.Yep, I’ve played around with quite a few clears (Over solvent)
And by far for hold out and ease of use as well as price, I think the FC720 & 710 are my favorite.I’ve been a little curious on how this works over water based products.
Been thinking about switching over for a bit now. :whistle:Well to be fair Stone, I think if he came up to us all face to face and said:
“You have to Tack between all your coats of clear, and anyone that don’t is unprofessional, and has no idea how to do their job”I think he would have got the exact same reaction.
The way I see it, most every person that posted there gave him an *Out*.
Everyone said “Oh, he must mean basecoat” “He must mean after you sand it to re-clear” “He means before the first coat of clear”And he came back and called everyone wrong, and unprofessional, and that he knows better because he has the biggest shop in Bla bla bla, and he’s been doing this for so many years, Bla bla bla.
Lets be honest, put him in your shop, my shop, Bondo’s Shop, Ding’s Shop… He would have got the same verbal beating.
