    Has the car been parked next to a sprinkler? Hard water deposits can etch the coating.

    Well there is one very good reason, isocyanates. I’m a home sprayer in my garage.

    I did take care to observe flash times (15 minutes) and not put on too thickly or too many coats (3). Weather was good too. Perhaps it is some kind of micro crazing though and the metallic particles reflect it so at some angles it jumps out. Be nice to try and find the root cause though, as I believe I did follow the instructions pretty well.

    Makes you wonder how manufacturers ever got cars out of the factory 25 years ago. Surely there must be some other factor affecting the finish?

    There is no hardener, it’s a 1k clear lacquer and it’s supplied ready to spray.

    I had another look over the car last night. The bumpers I did are also showing the problem, but not as obvious and the pattern is more like crazing or spider webs than the lines on the wings.

    No, I was moving the gun from front to back along the wing.
