Valspar has an interest
This may be the best option for Akzo, PPG and BASF, I’m sure Valspar will do a good job of killing the Dupont brand and it would benefit all! :rofl
November 17, 2011 at 4:21 pm #34256
Unless they have some secret products that we don’t know about or the rights to something very popular I can’t see any of the big guys buying it. They would rather see it die and go away (less competition) than to spend the money to buy it and disolve it. So unless there are factories and or distribution centers that are in key places would be the only reason they would even consider it.
whats the most popular Product Line Dupont makes?
maybe ITW will buy it they own everything else haha.
Dupont is still very profitable, it will not die. All of the big guys want it. Think of it this way, Dupont and PPG share the largest market share in North America. They flop back and forth on whose bigger. Akzo comes in third. Whoever buys Dupont will become the largest by far. Nobody will buy them for technology, only market share. Although Spies and Standox would be nice for any of them to have.
Dupont will not totally be out of the game either, they still produce some raw materials that all of them use.
I am not sure the FTC would even let PPG buy Dupont as it would control too much of the market.
November 16, 2011 at 8:17 pm #34236It’s not so much their primer as it is the substrate exposed from your featheredge. The manufactuers started using a wet on wet process much like we use and as a result it is more sensitive. Easiest way to combat this I have found is to put a light coat on first and let it flash good. Dont dry spray the piss out of it, and you should not achieve opacity with it but just a nice light coat. Once flashed make your first wet coat just a medium one, then proceed as normal.
It would also help if you could get an IR lamp on it for a few minutes before priming, but that isn’t a very good option for most people.

November 16, 2011 at 3:28 am #34222
i dont see a difference between OEM 2 stage and 3 stage. Sikkens using 2 stage paint to match 3 stage proves my point. 3 stages are more trouble than their worth.
I completely disagree, there is a big difference in appearance. To be honest I always used the 3 stage formula as it matched better and not much more work. You can make the 2 stage fly and they look decent outside but it does not look the same. They lack the pop like a candy would have.
A 3 stage red in water is cake.
November 15, 2011 at 4:09 pm #34214I have found almost none of the 2 stage formulas that look like 3 stages have the pop that your talking about. They seem to blend fine and look good outside but it can be deceiving when matching sprayouts.

This is what you need. If this is hard to find some JB Weld will work also. Jim C knows what the lip seal is, that might help in finding it locally.
Parts look nice Dillon!

November 12, 2011 at 6:13 am #34140I use Mixit pro and it blows Mixit 2 away.
If your not in a low VOC controlled area I would stick with HS+ or even Lesonal Glamour if you weren’t using Superior
November 10, 2011 at 5:32 am #34104I feel the same way about the CVI. The Tekna is good for clear but I would pick the Iwata or Sata above it. If you really like the Supernova I wouldn’t let under a hundred bucks sway you.
Do you need a cup with the Nova Underpaid? If not you can get it for $535 here

Coast Airbrush shows them for sale on their site? Not sure myself though.
