I like the digital feature, but I would rather use an adam gauge instead of the digital gun.
I always forget about the adam gauge
I just hate having a regulator on my guns. I want one of these for my Tekna

To be honest I don’t think I would ever buy a sata that wasn’t digi anymore. I have big hands though and find the 4000 very comfortable. For a girlier man I am sure the non digital works fine. :p
To help with flat panels. Control your fan. Lower the psi and turn your fan in some. Watch overlap also. Guns that spray a flat even pattern vs a cigar shaped pattern are a bit different.
To throw something else in the mix have you considered a WS400. Better atomization and fluid delivery.
I guess Im a girl :p I have thought about the WS. I just have not heard mugh about it other than what andy t says. I just dont want too much speed. I tend to get my self into trouble with fast guns. Do you know much about the WS? Speed, air pressure, gun distance? how much overspray it has?
I have never used one. It seems to put out more paint than the LS Hybrid. They even make a high delivery version (HD) of the WS400 so I’m guessing just the regular one wouldn’t put out too much.
Fluid output for WS400 — Fluid output for the LS400
1.3 170 ml/min — 1.3 115 ml/min
1.4 190 ml/min — 1.4 130 ml/min
1.3HD 220 ml/min — 1.3 Hybrid 145 ml/min
1.4HD 240 ml/min — 1.4 Hybrid 155 ml/minI know Andy loves his, he gets a ton of use out of it and I trust his opinion. If it was me personally I would go with the WS over the LS but i liked the W-400 a lot more than the LPH-400.

November 5, 2011 at 4:51 pm #34032Recycling thinners sucks. Most thinner you buy now isn’t really a very good grade and once you cook it a time or too you might as well use water. If using a disposable cup system there isn’t enough usage or waste to need one. I think we go through about 45 gallons of thinner a year total for our whole shop, and that is with the bodymen manually cleaning their primer guns. For that much usage it would take years to pay for a recycler.
Since using water I don’t even come close to filling up a 30 gallon drum of solvent waste in a year.
October 31, 2011 at 4:25 pm #33940Whats the best car?
What your asking is going to be open to a lot of different opinions. There is no best gun or setup, it’s what is best for the material your spraying and your own comfort level. All high end guns are capable of leaving a nice finish. What works for one brand of basecoat may not work for another. You would be better off figuring out what paint you want to use then asking this question. I like a 1.2 nozzle for some clears and all the way up to a 1.4 for others.
October 31, 2011 at 1:19 am #33916
yes however thats not really the cost difference in the end. its very difficult to compare in that way. you need to compare formula to formula as ready to spray then take into account coverage difference.
this is dead on. Case in point a Cromax Pro metallic toner is cheaper than an Autowave metallic toner, but it is not uncommon to use a quart of the Cromax toner in one mix while our takes me forever to go through a quart of am autowave metallic toner. Only true way to tell is sprayable costs and coverage.
October 29, 2011 at 4:11 pm #33875I do all overs tha same as Jayson.
If using a medium solids clear with slow enough reducer you could start in the middle of the roof as it should melt in ok, but I’m not sure why someone would want to. Personally I think it’s a bad idea to start in the middle of any flat panel, I always try and carry a wet edge.

X2 that would make the most sense if wanting solvent.
October 29, 2011 at 3:19 pm #33871
Ok thanks Jayson. As far ans the noise thing, Im sure some people dont mind, but I have been using the LPH400 fore a few years now and then going to a 3000 rp at 33-34 psi is quite a bit louder than what im use to. Im sure I could get use to it after a while.
I listen to my IPod when I paint so noise doesn’t matter to me! 😉
My guess is if you like the Supernova you will probably like the 4000 as they seem similar as far as spray patterns. Speed is a little better with the 4000 though. Best way to tell is to demo both before buying.

Once I get rid of what I have, there wont be any more sampling of sikkens products
h8tr! Since you buy all your parts from Keystone I dont see why paint is any different! :p
October 28, 2011 at 5:03 am #33836What nozzle size do you use?
This may not be the answer you want but if the Supernova is giving you the results you like, just deal with the speed or bump the nozzle size up one. I would rather have a slow gun that gives me the desired results than a fast gun that gives you fits.
HS+ isn’t my go to clear for great looks anyway. It is alright but it can be a bit finicky in my opinion. It is not Superior
October 27, 2011 at 3:03 pm #33820I have used one with a 1.4 nozzle a few times. It was too large of a nozzle for the clear I’m using so I can’t really give you a good comparison. One thing I did notice was it did put out more material but didn’t seem to atomize as good. I wasn’t immediately impressed though. I would like to try the WS400 version more than the LS personally.
I will say my W-400lv does do a nice job with HS+.

Tried it with water?
Nope, but I’m guessing you have?
