Can superior 250 or the energy pro be used over solvent?

The Superior says on the can for autowave only (not go over solvent). I assume the energy pro is the same
That is more than likely Sikkens attempt and stopping customers bastardizing the product, i.e. they want you to put their clear over their base, this quite a common statement on TDS sheets.

It is just a solvent based clear after all
It will delam when put over solvent. Ding knows why, he told me but I cant remember exactly what it is. Something like it is missing the molecule that lets the tail solvents out.

Sikkens Autoclean. They have 2, get the one that is lower voc.

Right now I sand mine and scuff them with a gray scuff pad with waterborne degreaser and it does work very well. You’ll might want to give that a shot sometime as it does work very well. I’m thinking the P1000 Abralon may work a little better though.

If it has to be low VOC energy pro and superior are really your only options. Superior doesn’t air dry too bad. If doing an all over is may be your best option.

I have to tell you Andy your method of scuffing with waterborne cleaner and Abralon works very good. I tried it this week and am hooked. I went ahead and ordered a box of the P1000 Abralon dics. I’m thinking the 1000 will go even quicker as they will have a bit more bite and is a good grit for blending over. Thanks!

Jayson is correct. You will turn a silver with EC or DC into a bass boat in the summer with a 1.3. Trust me on this. There are times here when the 1.4HC doesnt wet it up enough.

Have a look at THIS Ben. Devilbiss recommends a 1.4 to 1.5 with a 1.4 being optimal for most conditions.

The LS400 base version works very well with waterborne. It sprayed Sikkens Autowave better than any other gun I have used. Only downfall is you have to make sure the wedges stay clean as the waterborne likes to clog them, but I’m sure your already used to that. I have tried both LS400 versions for clear and the hybrid is a huge improvement over the regular but I am still trying to get a hold of a WS to try out. I think the extra pressure at the nozzle would be nice as the clear we use is pretty thick.

I know exactly what your talking about when you say to get it to not atomize as much you loose your pattern. The lph-400 was like that for base with the silver cap. The orange (in your case gold) cap fixed that. The fan being even from top to bottom on the LS or WS is alot nicer for base IMO. If you ever get a hair up your azz and want to order one from the states let me know, I’ll see what I can do.

Keep the action shots coming Benny!

What size tip ya using in your Tekna?
Its the 1.3 and the 7E7 air cap.

I gather by all the talk tonight that everyone wants me to model more often :lol1
I’m not too sure how warm it gets there in the summer but if the humidity is low you may want to look into a 1.4 for your Tekna for basecoat. It’s only about $100 in the states for a tip and needle for that gun. If it doesnt get too hot you might be fine.

How come when Ben is spraying there isn’t anything coming out of the gun? Kinda strange? If the shot was staged I would’ve liked to seen that smiling face!

I wonder if Bondo was taking the pictures???

    :rofl :rofl :rofl

Cool Andy. I need you to come over here and give me a hand. I would make a killing. All the beer you want!

Do you’ll just use the 2000 grit abralon discs made for buffing with waterborne degreaser?
