I try not to blend 1/4’s for a rear bumper replacement either. If you don’t mind spending a little time you should be able to get it pretty close.

On the other hand I will blend fenders in a heartbeat for a front bumper. I can sand and tape 2 fenders in 20 minutes and I know it will match. 1/4’s are more work.

The W-400 WB2 aircap is the same as our W-400lv. Nice spraying clear gun. Our version of the WBX is an orange cap called a LVX.

Yes we have the Spectro here as well.

Sounds like you are setup right!

Blowtherm North America got bought out by Global. They have since came back to the US. It is an Italian company. Search the web and try and get a hold of Blowtherm. Not sure if they have much presence in North America.

Nice looking jobs! It’s always cool to see work from other countries.

They don’t have a huge market share but none of the high end European lines do. Most shops use PPG and Dupont over here. They have the majority of the market.

    I was using the 8035 and 8600 clear. 8600 was 3 to 1 with VHS hardeners and 8035 was 2 to 1.

I’m guessing your an Iwata guy. You using W-400’s?

If you have access to toners you can add a white pearl to lighten the flop a little with out changing the face too much.

That’s good advice! White pearl works very good for that. Seems to not hurt the face to much.

You don’t have a high flow coupler on your Sata! :rofl

Cool tattoo though. I have a few myself.

    Thats good advice Andy

I have used the Sata, Devilbiss, and cheap ones. The Sata moved more air, but not a ton. The Devilbiss is quiet and I liked that alot. Cheap ones work good also but were louder.

I love Spies paint. It is one of the top brands out there. Which clear are you spraying? Are you on water or solvent?

    Sata for handhelds.

Nova Verta isn’t handheld but their portable unit works well.

Agreed with both above. Never fill a scratch with bodyfiller. Really you shouldn’t ever put bodyfiller over paint. Companies like evercoat say you can but there isn’t a paint company out there that will recommend that procedure. There is a good chance it will end up mapping down the road.

I agree with Jayson. Very good advice.

Be glad you used KBC instead of UK kandy. UK makes it harder as you can’t mix your kandy and base together. It is possible to do though. The most helpful thing will be to get your basecoat blended well.

1 stage and 2 stage has to do with the pump. On a 2 stage you have 2 cylinders, one for lower psi and more volume and the other is for less volume and higher pressure. A 1 stage only has the one. More to it than that but it’s the best summary I could type quickly.

Single phase and 3 phase has to do with electrical hookup. 3 phase is only for commercial. It is way more cost efficient but I don’t think you can even get it run to a home. I know you can’t where I live.

It depends. I would say yes but it depends on how far they were off, what color it is and what part of the color was off.

If I was going to do it I would at least do the whole side. Give myself plenty of room to blend. Doesn’t take much time to sand and tape a fender and 1/4. The extra 30-45 it might take you would be worth it if the color ended up not blending easily. Plan for the worst and hope for the best!
