I would wait 1-2 hrs too be sure the epoxy is cured enough. You dont want to spray 2k too soon and epoxy might be still wet underneath.
Another suggestion would be to obtain a TDS (technical data sheet) for the products you are using and follow it exactly, you should be able to find a TDS by doing an Online search. Adjust your gun and do a test panel until you get your desired results than proceed.
Dont forget the more you thin your base the coverage will suffer and the more you thin your clear the greater the chance of runs.
Welcome Bill, glad ya could join us…
Use a polyester finishing putty, it is easier to sand .
Looking good bud, keep up the good work
Good post Ben. Thats exactly how i would do it.
Did you try breaking down the gun and cleaning it? fluid tip or air cap may be dirty
looking good Bondo. :rock
I have the exact same business cards, how weird is that…
Wow, your in pretty deep on that one Jay. Id rather you than me. lol
I prep all my blends with 800 dry on a DA. Silvers, Golds etc. and yet to have a problem. Been doing it for years….
IMO i would grind it down to bare metal. that way you know there isnt any surprises under the paint that could affect the bondo from peeling or falling off.
BTW. welcome to the site.
Sounds good buddy. i recently built a new bay onto my shop 16×28 and am now currently building on a new office. Congrats.
