Generally speaking, single stage is a more durable paint. I use it on any type of work truck or fleet vehicles that i do. If you do get a scratch in single stage it doesnt appear as white, the scratch will be the color of the vehicle, which makes it not so noticable. As for applying single stage paint. IMO i think its easier to spray than base clear and is less time consuming. Just apply like a primer and keep your paint wet. I have done some beautiful paint jobs in single stage and you would never know that it wasent base/clear.

As he stated above, he didn’t want to go down too many steps because he was afraid of hitting the base so 1000 grit will do. Its not a bumper cover Nex. 😛
Sometimes we get more, not always.

We are DRP for many Insurance companies, State Farm, Farmers, AAA, Auto Owners, Citizens, and you know when you are a DRP you have to give them discounts for parts and labor.

AAA also requires a photo of the blend process. Are any of you required do do this?
No. I have never heard of such a thing. I cant believe that a shop would ever let a insurance comp. ever get that far. I offer a service to my insurance companys not let them tell me what to charge and what to do. DRP shops are :cens .

I painted an RV outside a few years back and it came out pretty decent, but it was a calm summers day and it was white. :S

I hate those jobs too.It looks like my competitions work :rofl It will be fun to see how the door matches again with out blending into the adjacent panels. Some customers just dont want to understand.

to do it right you have to sand the whole panel with 800 grit, sand the repair area wit 320 grit, fix your spots, prime them, apply your base coat over that area and re clearcoat the entire panel.
