Jay, u r so right about people appric. good work and workers. I called every1 including my jobbers yesturday. I went on an interview I start at a new place today. I didn’t even realize that the new place is owned by old shops owners bro. But as it turns out he hates his bro. No big supprise there. Exicited and nervous but I have got to try. I often think union would be cool but I fear were we have so many illegal islanders that shops wouldn’t hire union because then they couldn’t push people around. Thanx guys!
February 4, 2013 at 12:03 am #41024At my shop I get no specialty items. For my blends I cover my repair then drop my pressure to a fine spit then through it out on edges. This technique does not leave the bright hallow. I have used DBC 500 for a 2 tone fade. Weaker covering color first. Better covering color secound. 1:1 better coverage color and 500, then reduce 1:1. Drop in between colors for a nice gradual fade. But I do wanna try wetbed.
February 1, 2013 at 5:26 am #40903My last shop we had Valspar bank. I liked it. I was using 999 binder 2:1 reduction for spray. The 333 1:1 I couldn’t get, the jobber would’t sell they use that to mix for the customers. Then I got the LVB binder 1:1. I was happy. Less tints per color. I always trash first anyway. Only color that gave me any trouble was an audi silver sprayed funny. Rep came out mixed and sprayed he had the same trouble. I also noticed some of the colors were tri stage but in other brands they weren’t. Color matched great but more work. I have never had the complete system either (start to finish). But like with most brands same system = warrantee! Valspar did reimburse us for the paint for the audi.
January 28, 2013 at 7:10 am #40750I have the sata 3000powerjet 1.4. I’ve used it for 6years. Sadly they are discontinued, since 4000 release.
January 28, 2013 at 7:07 am #40748I would make sure before you puchase an RP that it meets the national EPA source laws. Here your supposed to use HVLP for overspray reduction.
January 28, 2013 at 6:50 am #40746Have you ever used kk kandy concentrate? It’s good for spray outs $27 for small can just mix with your clear. For the silver if you have your own mix set up just take the brightest left over silver you have and add some coarse aluminum. Match close to bc02 orion silver. Sparkly. If the job is worth it. Ask for a spray out (sample) fee. $50-$100. I do that to draw before airbrush. People have all these ideas the serious will pay and if you don’t do the job it didn’t cost you. Times are tough samples cost us and we can’t work for free. Sometimes I will tell customer if I do the job I will deduct the fee of the final bill.
January 28, 2013 at 6:30 am #40744Spray flat as thin as possible and pull tape before dry so hard edge can flow out just alittle.
January 28, 2013 at 6:27 am #40739I got an idea. Spray gloss black and gloss candy. Lay a 1/4in fine line inside kandy. Tape off black. Flat clear kandy area then pull out 1/4tape for a nice gloss stripe revealing true kandy while satisfying the flat kandy thing.
January 28, 2013 at 5:50 am #40738Def do a spray out to show her half gloss kandy half flat kandy. She could see what she losses with flat over kandy. Maybe gloss black and gloss kandy with just a small srtipe of flat on top of kandy. She can still enjoy true effect of kandy with a little flat. I think if she doesnt understand kandy, spray out will help to persuade her for afew changes in her idea.
January 28, 2013 at 1:37 am #40727I am always looking. I do know the used cup method lol. Used paper, used plastic, used rags. How about a different clear everyother day? gotta love that.
