Its not you its just the nature of the gun. Dont get me wrong, I love my Iwata. I can get good results with the LVB most of the time. I set it full fan, full fluid, about 13 lbs air pressure and about 3″ from the pannel. It takes some practice to master it. Forget about the LV and LVX caps for met. They just dont give good results imo. They do work great for solids and darker colors and work awesome for clear! I always end up using my 2000 or 3000 HVLP for my metalics.

I bought a gallon of FC710 to spray a couple of cars at home. I am sold on this stuff! I have been spraying sherwins top shelf clears for about 10 years and I would put FC710 right up with them. At 80.00 a gallon sprayable you cant go wrong with it. My sherwin rep thinks that FC710 and 720 are the old cc739 with a few tweaks to it.

Im using sherwin CC931 CC950 and HPC15. They will die on ya really bad if you dont have a good air movement and if you get on them a little early. The key is to let them flash and flash and flash. It sucks because it slows up production but if ya let it flash you will have good results. I have not had too many problems with the 15 min clear. It seems to hold a good gloss! From what I hear about AWX and VORTEX is that you have got to get all the water out before clear. It needs more air flow than the other waters out there.

We are at 45.00 hr body. 45.00 hr paint. 30.00 materials. Our service dept. I think is at 80.00. I wouldnt trade paint and body for service ever!

I dont see how Bondo makes any money with the price of plastic being so high! 😛

Do you guys know what kind of fans you have? The exaust fan in the spray bake looks like a giant squirrel cage fan. Its a direct drive so Im not even sure how you would go about taking it out to clean it. I looked it today and it have about a 1/16″ of build up on it.

Yep, Looks the same except I have lights in the walls. Grates are the same.

Does Napa sell Dupont up there? Around here they only sell Martan Senior.

The booth Im sprayin in has lights in the top and on the sides. It is very well lit and a very nice booth. I have tried to get my boss to have new grates built for it. The currant ones are about 5ftx2.5ft. They are solid plates with a about a two inch gap on each end for air flow. My guess is that this booth was designed to be used with a water wash filer. (No filters in the pit) When the booth was ordered the owner didnt want that option. It was retro fitted with floor filters and the original plates were never changed. Thus, no enough air flow. When I clear, I can acually see overpray floating up to the ceiling then eventually falling back down.

Im kinda wishing I bought the RP insted of the HVLP. I think my old NR2000 sprays better than my new 3000.

If you want an all around Iwata I would go with the LVX, the one with the orange cap. 😉

I cleared one and ONLY one car with my Sata 3000 hvlp. It was soooo slow. I fought it like no other trying to get it not to peel.
