In this area anywhere from $18-31 and hour book time, depending on experience etc.. Good painters are still clearing 100k in these parts, but its becoming less and less the norm.. I pay my head painter $30 plus benefits, vacation..
Is that 30.00 a clock hr? Or 30.00 a flag hr? How much is your labor rate?

X3. I with the painters on this one 😉
Bad body work can get sent out no problems at all. A miss match, runs dirt, orange peel will always get noticed. A good paint job sells the job everytime :pcorn:May 20, 2010 at 7:12 am #21366Well Im on flat rate. I have been a painter at a dealership for over 9 yrs. I feel that I am sickly underpaid for what the guys in my area are making. I have been banging my head on the wall over it for quite sometime now. You are making more money than I am  Thats why I am UNDERPAID PAINTER :rofl
That is a very nice set up for a home booth,I bet it will work awesome. You could always build a wall and make it permanent. Thanks for sharing ;)
Thanks Jayson! I have thought about putting up a wall. Im very limited on space and having a wall down the middle of my garage would just make it too tight. If I had the room it would be done 😉
What are you using for a fan? Great looking space.
Its a Maxxair Heavy Duty 14″ 1/8 HP. Flows 1400cfm. If I were to do it again I would step it up to the next size. 18″ 14 hp 3000 CFM. These fans are easy to install and seem to be built well.
May 17, 2010 at 4:51 pm #21298Fan for fresh air is a squirel cage mounted up top. Exaust is a louvered farm fan from Tractor Supply. Its just a little on the small side but it does pull the overspray out. I have more positive pressure than neg.
May 14, 2010 at 8:07 am #21240You can check out Duramix 4247. Its good stuff! Its made for rebuilding broken bumper tabs. Its got some flex to it and sticks really well if you use the 3M ad. promoter that goes with it.
That is awesome… Most shops I know of around here would have slobbered a lb of bondo in it and called it a day :rofl
How do ya think Bondo got his nickname :rofl
May 11, 2010 at 8:07 am #21151Nex, Looks good. Just wondering though, why do you use the high build rattle can primer then go over it with a 2k surface primer?
May 11, 2010 at 7:51 am #21150What brand of paint are you going to be using? If its anything other than duplicolor, I wouldnt use that reducer. I wouldnt mix two differnent brands of paint additives together. Who knows, you might not even need to put a reducer in your paint.
