For me it just depends on the color. Some colors I spray look great! Other colors mop the floor with me! It just depends.
April 7, 2010 at 7:05 am #20550Thanks! Got a couple of jobs lined out and am going to use the primer and sealer on them with some sherwin base and finish 1 clear. Hope it all goes well. I have only used sherwin ultra 7000 line.
the cp 440 an cs 293 are both pre reduced tint prime an tint seal in this system an way better than the crossfire 15222 now that they jumped into the tec complete there kinda like the red headed stepchildren :lol1 a few bucks more but good $hit 😉 try em an let me know what you….think
Thanks Guys! I will give the cp440 a try. What is the diff in the two primers? Does it take an additive to make them a sealer?
March 31, 2010 at 8:21 am #20462As far as a home booth goes…how are they giong to know you have one 😛 Its not like the epa is going to be going door to door. I wouldnt be spraying two or three cars a day in it though. The neighbors could cause you some trouble.
March 27, 2010 at 6:45 am #20417I see! If body and paint work are not your full time job…how the heck did you know how to set such a pro type booth? You definatly have some fab skills and killer body and paint skills 😉
March 27, 2010 at 6:06 am #20412I know its too late now but I have had good luck with duramix 4247 ridgid plastic reair filler. Its made to rebuild or make new bumper tabs that have broke off. its good stuff. 3M makes a mesh that has a clear backing on it, you line the area you want to fill with it or use it as a backer. Apply the filler and it sets up very fast. Sand it smooth, put a couple of coats of primer on it and your good to go.
March 27, 2010 at 5:56 am #20411I still cant get over how nice your booth is! Sweet set up! Do you have any kind of intake or positive pressure on it?
March 27, 2010 at 5:50 am #20410I do sometimes but it can give me some problems too. If youre going to do it I would just mask the fender, then spray the door until you get full hiding then unmask the fender completely for the blend. Dont unmask it in stages. 😉
March 21, 2010 at 9:50 pm #20261I bought that same ingresol from tractor supply. It has been a great compressor! It is very quiet and I can use any gun with it. I can start spraying and the compressror will kick on and catch up and shut off while in still spraying. It is a single stage but it does me just fine! I can run about anything except for maybe an air buffer. Never tried one but they take alot of air. I have been told that a single stage compressor runs cooler than the dual.
March 14, 2010 at 9:26 am #20084We had a suby in the shop the other day! It was a chore trying to get the tu tone around the wheel houses to contour even.
March 14, 2010 at 9:21 am #20083I would have to say that advertising cant hurt you any unless its an annoying to poeple. I paint at a dealership and in the nine years we have never advertised and I feel it has hurt us. I have had so many poeple ask me if we work on customer cars. They think we only work on the cars owned by the dealership. Some people that have lived in this town for years say they didnt even know we had a body shop at the dealership.
March 14, 2010 at 9:14 am #20082You know whats funny? I have asked my boss at various times to get me more time for this or for that. His answer is we have to do it for less because thats part of being on the program. Then in the same breath he tells me we cant get more time on this other car because we are NOT on their program. :wak
