Man I sure loverd that supernova but our supplier told me today that my cost on one is 602.00 👿 The 4000 Rp non digital was 525.00? So I might just go the sata route. Who would of thought sata would be cheaper :wak

Coast Airbrush shows them for sale on their site? Not sure myself though.
I think Len has them for sale over at autobodystore also?

Thanks for all the info Ryan! That helps! One thing I did find is that the Hybrid has a slightly narrower fan than the standard LS. I dont care much for narrow fan pat. Do you know the width of the WS versions? I couldnt find any info on the WS guns. Just the LS guns.
I am in the group of digital lovers. To be honest I don’t think I would ever buy a sata that wasn’t digi anymore. I have big hands though and find the 4000 very comfortable. For a girlier man I am sure the non digital works fine. :p

To help with flat panels. Control your fan. Lower the psi and turn your fan in some. Watch overlap also. Guns that spray a flat even pattern vs a cigar shaped pattern are a bit different.

To throw something else in the mix have you considered a WS400. Better atomization and fluid delivery.
I guess Im a girl :p I have thought about the WS. I just have not heard mugh about it other than what andy t says. I just dont want too much speed. I tend to get my self into trouble with fast guns. Do you know much about the WS? Speed, air pressure, gun distance? how much overspray it has?
It’s all good U.P.P. everyones opinion is useful and we all spray different. That’s what makes this site great,it has more guys who spray everday than any other on the net.I have never really been able to love my 3000rp,it is a nice gun, sprays everything really well, but I like my first gen rp and 4000rp better. If you tried a 1.4 in the 4000rp it will handle those clears better,I changed out my 1.3 and it performs like a dream.I have never liked the digital versions of any model RP,I have always used non digital for comfort.
Im not opposed to trying the 1.4, thats what my lph is. I just have had poor results using HS+ and Energy pro. It did great with sherwin clears and Pro Air. Im just not a fast hoser type painter. I would say I am medium speed sprayer. The 4000 is a touch slower than the 3000 but I actually liked it. I felt as if I had more control than I do when I use a 3000 rp 1.3.

I have got to be honest here. I have always started in the middle and worked my way out. That was with sherwin CC639 and CC950. I never had any problems with it melting but I always used the slowest reducers when doing an overall. I am 6’2 and can reach over halfway on hoods and roofs on most cars. I have tried to work my way in and never felt that comfortable doing it.

Ok thanks Jayson. As far ans the noise thing, Im sure some people dont mind, but I have been using the LPH400 fore a few years now and then going to a 3000 rp at 33-34 psi is quite a bit louder than what im use to. Im sure I could get use to it after a while.
The old first gen rp does just as good of a job as the 3000rp IMO ;)
Our shop manager was out in the shop for 14 years or so and swears by the 1st gen rp. He knows Im looking for a new clear gun so he is going to bring in his rp for me to try. He says it kicks th 3000s but all day long. What I want to know is how does the fan pattern, noise level and fluid delivery compare to the 3000?

Sikkens is starting to come around for me. Whats so bad about energy pro? Its ten times better than pro air. I have pretty good luck with it. So what would you guys spray if you were still using solvent? I have to use something like HS+ for big jobs due to the fact that energy pro is too fast.

By the way, the supernova is a 1.3, so I could bump to 1.4 or try the hybrid for more speed.

You obviously havent been over on autobodystore lately :rofl :rofl :rofl
Just went over and checked out autobodystore. It looks like you an Jayson started a real s@#t storm over there! Thats why I dont go there much. Everyone is just so in love with that stupid plus gun.
I have used one with a 1.4 nozzle a few times. It was too large of a nozzle for the clear I’m using so I can’t really give you a good comparison. One thing I did notice was it did put out more material but didn’t seem to atomize as good. I wasn’t immediately impressed though. I would like to try the WS400 version more than the LS personally.

I will say my W-400lv does do a nice job with HS+.
Thanks Ryan! I am still thinking about converting my LPH into a W400LV. I just use my lph for sealer alot thats why I havent yet. I have been using my LPH for HS+ and Energy pro and havnot had that great of results. I usally get runs trying to make it look good. So I started using the 3000 rp and it looks way better but I still tend to put it on heavy. Using the supernova, It goes down slick, just slowwww. I dont get runs with it like I do the other two guns. I just dont want thst to happen with a W400LV.

I have been using a 3000 rp also. It does a good job but its loud and a material hog.
No it only needs a max pressure of 32 psi now, they changed the nozzle setup and it is pretty quiet.Honestly I don’t mind the 4000,don’t find it finicky either, just a little slow and hot weather can be a pain even with a 1.4.My biggest complaint is it doesn’t put out enough material, but if you don’t mind a slower gun it is fine.I am not a big fan of the 3000 either,I keep going back to my first gen rp with a 1.4,the other 2 sit in my toolbox.
Thats good to know. I have been thinking about picking a 4000 up. Im glad to hear that it quieter. Not to crazy about hearing that its slower than the 3000. The 3000 I have been using has a 1.3. Maybe if I should go with a 1.4 in the 4000? just to get some more speed out of it? I have trouble getting around a bumper cover using my LPH400 when spraying energy pro with spot and panel activator. Thats why I started using the 3000 RP. I dont want that to be the case with an expensive 4000.
Man this post is a blast from the past. I guess I should update, stick with the 3000. After using the 4000 for a bit I think the 3000 is a better gun. The 4000 can lay a flat coat of clear but it is slower and more finicky.
I been using a co workers 3000 RP 1.3. It works well for me but its sooo loud at 33psi. One of our reps told me to crank it up yo 35? It really kicks at that pressure. Does the 4000 require that much pressure?
The Tekna for clear does an good job. Not as good as the W400 or the RP. it feels better built than the Iwata, but not as good as the Sata. with a little tweaking it can put out almost as good of a job as my RP.

I kinda like my W400lv for HS+ honestly. I think it lays it on a bit flatter than my RP. With that said I am not a huge fan of HS+ as I find it a quirky bitch sometimes. You can convert your LPH into a W with just a nozzle and aircap.

I like my 3000 Sata more than the 4000. The 4000 can lay a flatter job but the 3000 just seams easier.
Thanks for the info Ryan and everyone else. It seems that all three guns get the job done. Everybody has their favorate. I am partial to Iwata and its probably my first pick. I didnt know that the LPH could be converted. Thats a cheap alternative. I with you on the HS+ thing. Im gonna burn another gallon or so to get the hang of it. If not im gonna try some lesonal glamor or universal. What size tip do you recomend on all three of the guns?
