Yep! had that same problem. I switched to Farcela Total and I dont get that hazy look anymore one the car is washed. I was using 3M compound with a white foam pad before.
October 23, 2010 at 6:12 am #24566What impresses me the most is that you cleared the entire pillar. Most guys would of just did a a little burn mid sail pannel. Nice job:rock
October 23, 2010 at 6:05 am #24562I have been told that oem will price match but we still get am and some remans. It may only be a regonal thing. Or.. its a time thing. We can get Keystone parts every day. Some OEM parts take DAYS!
October 22, 2010 at 8:19 am #24518We got a reman once that still had mud on the back side of it and it was primed over!
October 22, 2010 at 7:45 am #24511Some of those bumpers look like they were primed with a wagner house painter:rofl
October 21, 2010 at 7:43 am #24437Thanks for the test lild! I love hearing about quirky gun set ups;) At least we all know what happens now! I dont blame you for ging back to the “factory” set up. I woulnt want to try an explain to my boss why my paint job is all jacked up:rofl
October 20, 2010 at 10:57 pm #24425By putting an RP fluid set in an HVLP, Im sure the results will not be that great. But…It doesnt sound like anyone has tryed it yet so whats the harm in it. I just think that its interesting to expirement with things.
Besides I dont think that Sata will be lowering the price on the 3000s anytime soon. They will just release the 4000s at a stupidly high price.

Please report back on your findings!
October 18, 2010 at 7:34 am #24340
Oh I hear ya bumpers really suck, sometimes I will have 4 bumper covers in the booth and 4 different colors  As far as time goes we are all straight time but I have done as much as 22 plus hrs in one 8hr day.We do all our own masking so if I do 3-5 jobs a day it is a good day for me.When I have help and the other painter is gone and I have 2 booths I have done as many as 10 plus jobs in one day….production painting does get old sometimes
When you say strait time is that just by the clock hour? Like as in you get paid eight hours a day no matter how many flag hours a day you turn? Its a good day for me if I get five done in a day. I only have one booth and two preps.
October 15, 2010 at 7:54 am #24228I would say guys around this area are from 12.00 to 19.00 per refinish hr commission. I see you are from Kansas? Where at?

Thats funny! We call them Auto Lizards! The guys that do that stuff for us are acutally called the Auto Wizards, so when we see a “SMART REPAIR” we call it an auto wizard special! :rofl
August 12, 2010 at 7:18 am #23795At the shop I work at we have an 8 yr old spraybake. It has all the bells and whistles a booth can have. It takes a lap top computer to work on it. It is a nice booth dont get me wrong, but I get better jobs out of our down draft prep stations at times.
One of the major problems with our 70 plus thousand dollar booth is that spraybake is out of business. 👿
Check out the booths that autobody tool mart has, they dont seem too bad for a cheeper booth.
August 12, 2010 at 2:36 am #23782I got a quote on a garmat frontier booth with a 1 millon BTU heater, solid back, double skin installed for $65,645.00
