Great, thanks for reply!

If I am correct, in Canada, the Napa stores that carry paint/bodyshop stuff are called CMAX, and the local CMAX stores carries Dupont products.

I’ve never seen Napa, Sherwin Williams, De-Beer, Matrix stuff here.

Looking the TDS for 497 and 465, their drying times seem to be the same. So thats fast enough. :cheer:
If you can get dupont try the Nason 465 clear. Very very nice for the money. I would say it is one of the easiest and best looking clears in the dupont line.

Only advice to give on it is to use chromapremier reducer instead of nason reducer
I’ll definatly visit the dupont jobber tomorrow and ask if they carry the 465 clear. Just curious about the chromapremier reducer:
I just looked at the dupont site, would you say 12375S is good enough.

BTW: I also have UR50 urethane reducer from R-M, would that works as well?

You should run it @ about 25 psi for clear, 14-16 psi for base.

Hi Jayson.

These are Canadian prices. I know U-TECH 4.0 is like $120 a gallon kit.
How do you like this clear? Is it hard to buff?

$130 for Lesonal kit is damn good deal, IIRC, I asked him about the glamour clear. Obviously you get better prices since you work in a shop and you frequently deal with them.

Where I live (Ottawa) I can only get: Dupont, Azko nobel and BASF stuff. And they don’t carry everything.
PPG/onmi stuff have to be ordered in from local autoparts store.

I just emailed Matrix, asking them where/how I can get their AG40 clear.

I know they do not have a distributor around here.

I’ll try the NAPA stores later, see if they have it.

BTW,I’m pretty sure it was lesonal, which needed hardener and activator.
The only Azko Nobel clear that is under 150 is the U-TECH 4.0 clear.

Prospray clear is about $400 for a gallon kit.
Ouch.

No wonder they have an economy line. :lol1

When you mean “try that with 90 line”, do you mean:

A)Its can’t be sanded in short time if you get dust nibs
or
B)It can’t be sanded at all?

Should work fine.
Aluminum cup is a lot easier to clean up though, and the gun feels
better balanced with it.

Plastic cup is fine if you paint panels or small sections.

I’ve used Platic-weld epoxy that sell at walmart.
Works great, sets fast.

I do have a Dynabrade, but RO!
Got it yesterday, haven’t used it yet but it sure feels great
in my hand and I’m sure its a smooth sander thats going to
last me a long time.

According to devilbss your gun uses about 10 cfm.
I’d get 80 gallon so the compressor doesn’t run out of air often.
If you decided to get that compressor, get a good filter setup.

ps: can you finda decent used compressor, maybe in craigslist?
Eaton, devilbiss, Ingersol Rand…

A link would be helpful… 😛

That compressor is only good for mini guns.
Since you plan to do a whole car, you should get a 5 HP, something around 12-15cfm.

Assuming HF doesn’t exaggerate the CFM ratings:

Try to get something more than 80 gallon.

Thanks for response everyone.
I’ll ask the jobber about the price on Pro-Spray clear, maybe give it a try.
I guess production clear is better for spraying without booth and faster drying times.

I don’t see any link…

Oh, and welcome! :welc
